Island Breeze - so bright and beautiful

Anyone else have Island Breeze? This is my first spring seeing her emerge from her winter hibernation and I'm so pleasantly surprised by how yellow her leaves are. If not for the red petioles, I'd think I'd confused her with another hosta.

Here's a pic of mine. Please post your pics, if you have her, as I'd love to see how she looks in other gardens.

The title caught my attention. I had Summer Breeze many moons ago, and lost it. After I got Mango Tango (which is the reverse) I had to re-order Summer Breeze. "buttery" is my impression of the color. Still young, so I won't post a photo, but now that song is in my head...and I'm smiling. I don't have the others beautiful hostas you pictured. Thanks! -Babka

So, so, so close...now I need help with the last big decision

divamum, it was crazy fast, once it finally got rolling! I sat with a big empty box of a room for about three weeks waiting for the cabinet guy. But once he started installing, that meant Joshua could come put in my soapstone, and everything else just fell into place very quickly. I went from NOTHING to almost everything in literally 48 hours. I think that, by the end of this week, I'll be done with everything in the kitchen, except of course the backsplash! :) malhgold, the range is an Aga Legacy--and the gas is finally turned on!! Woohooo!! Wouldn't you know it, though, I have to teach tonight and then I'm going out of town for two days, so I won't be able to actually cook on it until Friday. Ugh!! fern4, the wood is cherry in a natural finish. Thanks so much for the McIntyre link. There are some beautiful options there. I will have to spend some time perusing! plllog, one of my first choices was a pale green glass tile with a little cobalt glass thrown in for accent pieces. I may have to revisit that. If I can find the pics again, I'll post them. I'm loving these suggestions. Sometimes my head gets stuck on one thing and, even though I know it's not what I want, I can't move past it. This is really helping me think outside my self-imposed box.

Anyone with Pebbletec Tropical Breeze?

Hi everybody (my 1st post here...) -- I just went thru this again. We were supposed to get Blue Lagoon, but I went into the PB office this morning expecting to upgrade to Tropical Breeze. Our pool guy (good guy...gives good, useful advice I think), said TB would be an upcharge for me (somewhere around $500) but I would have paid it. I didn't go for it because there is a lot of brown in the sample and when he showed me pools he's done with lots of brown around them (moss rock, stacked fieldstone), the water isn't as crystal blue as I'd hoped. The sparkles from the natural material also fade in time, so I passed on it. I heartily considered Carribean Blue, but didn't go for it because the deep water look was too green for my husband. I liked the shallow water look for our sun shelf, but oh, well. We ended up with Pebble Sheen Aqua Blue. It didn't seem as fakey blue as the Blue Lagoon Pebble Tec, or as brown as the Tropical Breeze, but still looked good in shallow water for the steps. That said, I'm loving your Tropical Breeze picture, krisfl! If my water would have looked like yours, I'd have gotten the TB for sure! I guess it all depends on the design on the pool and the lighting when the picture is taken, as I understand it. That would help explain why the pictures at the Pebble Tec website look so different even when they have the same finish! Sue in Texas ...rock guys and electricians are both here today...

Aw, thanks for all of your nice comments! My husband and I built the house we are currently living in, so power tools do not scare me, but building cabinets was new to me. I really enjoyed the precision work! When I get the cabinet doors built for the two book shelves, I'll post pics of that whole corner with the cabinets on one side, the lateral file cabinet and the little sink base in the middle. I knew I needed a sink in that room but could it figure out how I was going to fit one in without sacrificing a lot of needed cabinet space. Using this corner that would otherwise be a problem spot was the perfect solution, it's a small area, but plenty big enough.

Both 'Island Breeze' and 'Volcano Island' come out of 'Paradise Island'. Both are patented plants, one's registered, the other isn't. They come from differing originators, undoubtedly out of TC, and it's not unheard of to have frightfully similar sports turn up in 2 different places. And yes, it has been suggested they're essentially the same variety.

It has a lot going for it with that spectacular spring color (wish it kept it) and red pets. Just wait until you see it bloom. That's quite nice too. From 2018 (don't know why I don't have a more recent flower pic):

This is mine, have had it since 2017. Here it's surrounded by 'Lakeside Cupcake', 'Indigo', 'Grand Tiara, 'Touch of Class' and 'First Frost'. If you look carefully you'll see a small leaf form an 'Ice Age Trail' peeking through under the right-most 'Indigo' leaf. This year I'm growing it in an open shade area and the variegation went viridescent much quicker than when I had it where it saw around 6 hours of direct sun.
