I have SW Netsuke on walls and ceilings. I started out on the SW Blonde, etc. card but in our home, those showed up orange, probably because we have Low E windows that are slightly green tinted. So, we scrambled and went one card over to the SW Netsuke, Muslin, Ecru, Harmonic Tan and Artifact line up which we had seen in a Progressive Farmer Idea House in Southern Pines, NC. So, I don't have any of those next to SW Blonde to know how they look together. I love all of our colors, but the green undertones are evident when you put gold fabric next to the wall. Netsuke and Muslin are my favorites. Muslin also looks great on ceilings with white trim and sage walls. Netsuke comes across as a pale yellow-gold and doesn't have as much green undertone as Ecru. Take a look at Sherwin WIlliams Believable Buff. It's a nice neutral golden tan & not too dark or light.

How would SW Nuance look with Alabaster? It works. Mostly because they have the same amount of chroma. Which means neither will make the other look dingy/dirty. They are about the same in hue family, so hue family doesn't really play much of a part in this color relationship. Where they contrast is in terms of Value, lightness, LRV. Nuance is darker. That bump of contrast and the fact that they have the same chroma is what makes them work together. If you look at their data values, you can see what I'm talking about. You don't have to understand what all the numbers mean to make these simple comparisons highlighted in yellow. Essentially, this is the same as using the same color on walls and trim. Except Nuance is darker and you're getting a level of lightness contrast that you would not get if you used Alabaster on the walls in a different finish. Of course, using the same color in different gloss levels is always a good strategy too.

I'm doing some renos to a 30 year old house that used to be my parents' house. One decision leads to another and next thing you know you're redoing the whole house! I have ordered white vinyl replacement windows (no dividers) and am now regretting it, but it's too late. They are installing as I speak. I need help deciding what color to paint the trim. Please see the photo of the house below, taken before the new white window install. The second photo is just to show you what the new front doors will look like (stained wood with 6 lights, but double doors) I've thought of using white on the trim, but do I try to match the windows, go warmer and creamier, or something else? I'm all "decisioned" out!
