Rethinking my island pendant lights - help me choose.
Comments (13)Well, it sounds like schoolhouse pendant wins!! Definitely in pewter? Is brushed nickel ok? (one manufacturer I'm looking at only offers that.) Faucet is chrome but it's the only chrome thing in the room, so that shouldn't make a difference, right? Would the brush nickel coordinate well enough with the appliances? I'd think so, but I'm no finish expert. EEEEE I'm getting so excited! I ordered all the appliances yesterday, should be in in 10 days! And my contractor just sent me a picture of the island in with the new floor!...See MoreREPLY to this one! Alabaster type lighting fixture and pendant li
Comments (16)Thanks people, I love the Justice stuff, but the sizes seem to be similar-- 24". The designer and DH want things in, probably cuz we're stuck with waiting on some other stuff from the contractor-- like a window which is holding up the carpet and furniture's return from storage. I was also thinking about a re-purposed antique. That might just do it, although I was hoping for more of a transitional fixture. We've lived her for 34 (gasp!) years and that room NEVER had enough light from the lamps. We've installed some low voltage lighting for wall washing, but nothing that will uplight the ceiling and add an overall glow. And that is what the designer is aiming for. She's used to working for clients with huge budgets and we've eaten up ours with all the unplanned construction. It's fabulous and I'm not unhappy, but it definitely cuts down on the amount available for decor. We also need a dining room fixture. I had/have a typical Dutch brass chandelier with 12 candle bulbs. I want to replace it with a coordinating fixture to the living room, but need to find one that offers good light. Maybe it's getting older, but we find we want more light. If it's too bright for a dinner party or such, I can always use a dimmer. I haven't found anything right for that space either! I'll probably hang the old fixture until the right one comes along. Keep those ideas coming though, I love it!...See MorePendant lighting for beach house
Comments (35)I do like the pulley too..maybe I can convince him to exchange the non working one. #4 I am afraid is on the small side but I have to go back and find the dimensions on it. just looks small to me. but i do like the nautical look it has. re. the table lighting. after spending the weekend there with ceiling fans in the adjacent room, I am really sorry we didn't just wire for a ceiling fan over the table. we wired for 2 drum/pendant type lights. I asked my husband if would want to change that out and he is not crazy abou the idea. the breeze in the family room is really nice, but the kitchen is still. still working on him. Otherwise i do like the woven or drum pendants. I was never crazy about a ceiling fan over a table but..here it would be very functional....See MorePlease advise on a dining table pendant
Comments (30)I'm really disappointed to hear that a lighting store told you that. Warm is available. However dimming LED can be a challenge, mostly because you have to marry the dimmer to the driver in the LED. That being said, I have cheap LED wafer lights in my house and they dim just fine with a standard dimmer. If you get 120v LED it should work with a dimmer if you get low voltage LED it stands to need a new dimmer switch. Here is the Poulson look a like that was a go to for me, I agree get something with a socket. it allows you to pick the type of light. https://www.besalighting.com/sites/default/files/spec-sheets/cut_trilo15_120vpendant.pdf...See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
