I have my Tea Clipper and most of my new roses this year in my pot ghetto so that I can look at them before I assign them ground space. My Tea Clipper bloomed. It had a nice apricot color when it opened in the morning, but by evening it looked like the posted picture above. It had completely washed out. I did not notice much of any fragrance to it either. I'll just watch it for the rest of the year before I decide what to do with it. In contrast, my Lady Emma Hamilton does have a nice fragrance and seems to hold its color a little better. I will keep my eye on it also.

I was shocked when I saw her kitchen (on some forum - could have been here) for the first time a few months ago. My grandmother - born in 1904 - adored Julia Child's TV show...I have such happy memories of watching my somewhat bitter old grandma sitting close up to the TV to watch Julia Child and she'd laugh and laugh and smile and smile and take notes. She just came alive. It's only now that I realize she must have been imitating Julia Child (or maybe just that era) cause she had such a similar kitchen w/ that peg board and big table to work or eat at and so much more. Julia's kitchen makes me feel so at home I could cry! That's all those women needed - Julia and my grandmother: to be able to reach out an arm like an octopus and grab what they needed. Love it! Yes it's a bit too cluttered for my taste as well but it's a different kind of eye candy to me. :) Man I wish my local wood countertop supply stores had better samples (they sorely lack in that department and I can't make such a big commitment without it being local and without having good samples to take home)...I'd love to have that butcher block countertop look - whether the kind you cut on or not.

I read the book before I saw the movie. I absolutely hated the book and the author along with it. She's a miserable person, imo. I envy those of you who didn't read the book because, unfortunately, that ruined the movie for me. I know that the movie was quite different from the book and the character was tempered (Julie, not Julia), but it was still ruined. I love, love, love Meryl Streep and she was delightful in this movie, as always. But if you want to continue loving the movie, my advice is to not read the blasted book. (Can you tell I really, really dislike Julie?).

@Kristine LeGault 8a pnw, I absolutely agree with you about Julia’s colir range. I love when she picks up a bit of pink in the fall. My Julia Child gets done blackspot, but maintains vigor. Here she was around Halloween. Another favorite yellow floribunda for me is Yellow Submarine. I fell in love eith it at the National Botanic Garden and looked everywhere for it. Pim Ling roses are excellent, but not always easy to come by. I ordered mine from White Flower Farms. It is my favorite yellow. here it was at the botanical garden. The bees love it. Here it was as a first year rose in my garden. My 3rd yellow is Solero. The bush itself has never had a speck of black spot and the roses are lovely, but it has a crazy growth pattern with octopus canes. I plan to move it to s sunnier spot this spring.
