The red flowers reminds me of the red beefsteak begonia that I have.

Our 20+ y/o Century Plant is finally blooming for the first and only time. My photo doesn’t adequately show its redness, but it‘s there. In the past ten days it’s grown from not there to 8 feet tall! And, it’s still growing! They can easily reach twenty feet tall before they die and then it’s their ”pups” turn. This is next to the walkway from our front porch to the guest parking area, so everyone gets to see it!

It effectively is a huge stalk of Asparagus! They’re closely related members of the same plant family, Asparagaceae.
