Suggestions needed on 30' built in fridge & 36' range please!
Comments (6)Cheaper! Yes, I'm a real Brit :) One of the other things I like about the Leibherr, over the Sub-Zero, is that it seems more European: the Sub-Zero, to me, seems heavy and clunky (the shelves and so on). I also LOVE the way the Leibherr door works: it has a little 'push' action to release the suction, whereas the Sub Zero requires you to tug so hard it makes my elbow hurt. I think you need to see one to understand what I'm describing though....See MoreLast decision! 27" deep or 30" deep range hood?
Comments (7)No grill. kas has a 36-inch induction cook-top next to a Cooktek 3500W induction wok hob. The Wolf Pro Island hood was the largest standard size that I found in 2007 and that looked ok. A Wolf supplied, Broan manufactured nominal 1500 cfm roof fan is used along with a Fantech sound suppressor and 10-inch ducting. The hood internal aperture in the width direction is 61 inches while the distance between the farthest apart hob centers is 44 inches. The hood overlap on the left of the cooking zone of the wok is adequate, as is the overlap with the largest pan that should be used on the r.h. induction hob. The hood is 34 inches above the cooking surfaces. I like where Trevor is going with his modified hood design, both in size and lamp placement. With the Wolf, there is a lamp that is right over my head when wokking, leading to having to wear a hat or change to an LED lamp. And of course, larger is better for island hoods. Even if 31 inches of depth might not be needed at the low end of the range of hood placement (30 inches above the cooking surface), higher placement can provide headroom for taller cooks and/or less visual intrusion into sight-lines. What one can get away with in that respect will depend on cross drafts as well as the effluent expansion angle of the worst case relevant cooking. (Expansion angles may be found in the second article referenced in my first clipping.) kas...See MoreHelp needed - 36' fridge & 18' DW or 30' fridge & 24' DW???
Comments (9)Are you looking at counter-depth or standard depth fridges? We have a 30" standard-depth refrigerator now (old Kenmore) and it's more than adequate for a household of two in a 2/1 house. We're going to a 36" with the remodel, but mainly because it will be counter-depth, so the overall space is about the same. Personally I'd much rather have the counter space (and the full-size d/w is a bonus too). I do like the 18" Miele a lot, though, and know people who say it holds nearly as much as non-Miele 24" standard models....See MoreWWYD and why: 36 & 12, 2-24's or 18 & 30" stacks
Comments (18)illini - thanks, I am very excited about the dish hutch. It's directly across from the DW and I think it will work out great for that, setting the table, and it should keep everyone out of my cooking zone, etc.. deedles - I know I know, a crazy 'problem' to ponder! I am feeling like I have way too much space and will have empty drawers. But surely once we get in there they will fill up. I will have much more space than I have ever had. My one 4 drawer is on the island so not next to any other drawer stack and yes I think it might bug me if they were right next to each other. romy-thanks. I do like the look of it too. But I keep thinking what about the function. I will check kksmama's drawers (lol) - thanks for the tip. I think I have forgotten about other things I had stashed away in the basement because it didn't fit, cookie cutters, less used baking items and holiday stuff. That will all fit now. :) sherri-I think I might look at aftermarket dividers, that's a great idea. Foils, wraps and baggies I was planning for the 4 drawer stack - but they could go in my other 33" by the fridge too. So if I keep 36/12, it sounds like most of you would keep it a door (like mpagmom) and not a pull out? I'm not even sure they have any new fangled thing on a 12" pull out. They aren't cutting edge on drawer inserts, etc.....See Moreartemis78
