I'm sure it does help with the Eye Strain problem. These LED/LCD are bright and hard on the eyes. We really don't notice it much now, but when we first switched from the old CRT Style Monitors and TV's most of us complained about how bright the LCD Screens were. I can see how the Paperwhite screen would be easier on the eyes after a long night of reading. I have an 10.1" Acer Iconia a500 w/Android 4.0 in a Swivel Case and I understand how your arms could get tired holding your iPad Air. My Acer a500 is a very heavy tablet. I recently upgraded to an 8" Acer Iconia W4-820 w/Windows 8.1 and Case (not swivel). You wouldn't believe the difference in the weight between those two Tablets!

I started to download Calibre (Caliber? Calibri?) but I am totally baffled as to what I trying to do. I think ALL the books I borrow from the library are through OVERDRIVE, and a small bunch of them are not available in the kindle version. So it's still OVERDRIVE but it seems from my very limited understanding that those "books" are accessible by me only via the web so I don't know where to find them to try to move them to my kindle. I saw some guidance about emailing them to the kindle which I think is what I did for the project gutenberg books ( to the email at myname@kindle .com) but I do not know where there other temporarily borrowed books "reside" in the interim. I think I will just be thankful that I can read them at all. I appreciate the suggestions but I think @donna_loomis may be onto something and these are not doable.

amicus, I'm surprised you can't get the Overdrive or Libby apps in Canada. I have the Overdrive app on my Kindle Fire, but I can't get the Libby app. I wonder if you had a newer Kindle if you would able to get one or both of them ? I don't understand why you can't get the same books from Amazon that we have available here. Now, my local library is very limited on the amount of e-books they have available - at least, the ones by my favorite authors, and some are not available at all. DLM, I don't have a Paperwhite, so I don't know much about them. I would assume they all have wifi. I don't know what the front light is for, but I don't think I would need that. Get the one with advertising included if want, or need to save money. As far as new or refurbished - I would get new if I could afford it and could get a good deal, or refurbished if I wanted to save money, as long as there's a good warranty. Storage depends on what you need . I suppose if you read a lot, get as much storage as you can afford; if you read less, get less storage. I guess if you're reading temporary books which will be removed, you won't need as much storage. Free books from Amazon can be removed from your device and stored in the cloud, so keep that in mind, too. There are also places online where you can download free books to keep. I hope this helped you a little. I really know nothing much about Kindle Paperwhites .

I saw this and since it is a very good deal, I thought I would share if anyone is thinking about getting a Kindle Paperwhite. I think all versions are on sale; this one is on sale today for $70.99 and bonus it's waterproof. Mine is several years old, and works fine so I am not in the market but I thought this was a good price and worthy of sharing. I hope someone can take advantage.
