Sayuri needs help

I adopted this Sayuri in hopes of saving it. When unpotted, the soil medium was wet and there were barely any roots and parts of the rhizomes were mushy. Foliage is as limp and flat as fabric, dessicated, not mushy. All of it was washed with a tiny bit of Dawn dish soap and anything that wasn't solid was cut away. The only roots that weren't rotted are the tiny bit in the middle section.

I am planning on letting it sit another day to dry out some more, then cutting off at least 3/4 of the foliage (it's 30"/76cm long). Any advice on how I should pot these up? Was going to put the section with the roots in a clear glass of water so I could see how it was doing, maybe put the rhizomes in leca or perlite.

Thanks for reading!

PS I've been trying to search for info on this forum but not getting anywhere. Is houzz gardenweb search disabled?
