Let's talk shoes...
Comments (78)Stop the press! Store #57, I found shoes. This may be of interest to narrow-er foot people. As mentioned above I needed a shoe to wear with skinny-ish ankle pants and shorts that I could also use for minor terrain in Scotland. So, I needed some tread. I had a heck of a time as most shoes had big ugly bulbous toe beds. For A brief time I looked at slip-ons but decided against that because when I got the length that fit they where too wide and slippy and I could see some blisters in my future. I mostly ruled out tennis or workout shoes because I’m just not the sort to wear them around town, plus they clashed with my outfits as most were so colorful. So, I bought these Coach Moonlight sneaker shoes in a nice cream color called /chaulk with that little bit of somthin somthin on the back. Not quite a workout shoe and a bit more fashionable. The toes are just right (not too pointy or too round) and have a little more of a feminine look. Comfort wise on a scale from one to five they are a four. They are a four for now until I break in the leather. Not that the leather is stiff, its not, it's a nice Napa leather. Glad the shoe thing is OVER for me! EDITED to add: I forgot to mention that I tried on a few Coach shoes and they all seemed to run a tic narrow. Not very narrow but a nice fit if you have a slim to norm foot....See MoreNon-dorky "Walking Shoes"
Comments (73)Sue I got it in the Sale section of Yoox.com. It's very nicely made and true to size. Brand- Suoli. The odd thing is that the V section I think is meant to be in the back. I'm not wearing it that way though as it fits very nicely with the V in the front. I carefully removed the tag. The other shirt (T shirt) was also on sale on Yoox, brand - Pianurastudio. Size up with that one as it runs small (unless you like tight T shirts). ETA: the T Shirt was on sale but it looks like now it's not....See Morestylish, professional, durable, outdoorsy clothing
Comments (54)I have gaiters. At least one, maybe two, I can't quite remember. And two pairs of gortex pants to pull over regular ones, but they are almost too small now, sigh. Don't know where I put the gaiters. That's another issue too, lack of organized storage in my house, particularly clothing. Of course I'm trying and working on all fronts . . . My main problem is I used to be able to afford good quality clothes and I have been running on the fumes of having them for quite a few years. Plus I inherited some clothes from my Mom, although her stuff is a tad too nice for field work. But I can't wear her pants she was too short, (although I do wear some of her summer pants as capris, lol). I am running out of pants both due to wear and an expanding lower half. I regularly shop the Goodwill and local Salvation Army and also resale shops. I've gotten some great pieces, but honestly most folks don't give up durable, practical clothing, that stuff they keep until it is in tatters. I used to have quite the set of bandanas for my looks, those are the ones I would have to wear. I could invest in a few more. I have a lovely collection of silk scarves I inherited from my Mom, but I could never wear them to work and expect them to stay nice. Among the many things I have to accomplish at my house, is breaking down my Mother's closet. I have no great wish to keep it as a shrine to her, but I can't see just tossing or jumbling all the lovely clothes she had in there so meticulously organized. She has a beautiful wardrobe all organized by clothing type and color, so she could easily put together exquisite outfits. My mother never left the house looking less than stellar. But she was the opposite of me in her work world, she was a librarian and avoided anything messy, noisy or physical. I don't need suggestions on what to do with it, I have sources for donations, etc. I just need the time. I have recently been sorting through some old photos of my Mom at work. I still have all her exquisite classic wool and suede suits and silk shirts, but folks don't dress like that for work anymore, sigh . . ....See MoreI am hobbled ... Comments (22)I think Bumblebeez's list is worth a try. Just peeked at Aerosoles' website and saw a classic black leather pump for $110. Without seeing the sole, you couldn't guess they were Aerosoles. (And even if you could, who really cares? :) Feet are precious and worthy of TLC!) I haven't worn serious heels in decades but I did keep a pair of dressy heels because they were comfortable: Ann Marino. Wore them to so many parties and danced for hours in them. Don't know if the brand is still around but they can be had for a song on Poshmark. (Maybe the brand only does dressy styles because that's all I saw there.) Anyway, that's a brand you might want to keep in mind if you come across it. Full disclosure: I have an easy to fit foot when it comes to shoes. Obviously, YMMW. Good luck with your hunt. Hope you'll report back when you find something that ticks all your boxes. (I would have been flummoxed if those Aldo shoes didn't hobble you: a high heel that far from the ball of the foot is rarely good news. You need serious insole cushioning with that design.)...See Moresalonva
