Does anyone else HATE their comfort height toilet?
Comments (137)I'm looking for more links Bowl-to-floor <= 15". We're a household of three 5ft 5in. people. We're renovating four bathrooms. Just ordered a Tushy Ottoman but we're really NOT happy that we literally cannot buy a high-quality toilet that's standard height. Here's the whole plan: 1. We're ordering the Kohler - Wellworth Classic: (14 1/2") for two of our bathrooms. 2. We have a nice Elongated Toto (17" height?!) and I'll be trying out the 7.5" Tushy Ottoman https://hellotushy.com/products/tushy-ottoman-toilet-stool with that. 3. And then... one of our bathrooms needs a corner standard-height toilet, and my current plan is to buy a separated High-tank toilet https://www.rensup.com/bathroom/high-tank-toilets and bowl separately. I may also check Etsy for toilet bowl makers. What has this world come to? What a drag. It is also annoying that everything is labeled "Right-height"... yeah, it's kind of offensive because the height change is marketed as a feature and so it's excluded from most website's filter bars! Since it's an additive-feature, you can't filter for the absence of "Right-height" or "ADA Compliant". It's like -- I feel like I've been in the specific set of meetings where someone has a brilliant, cost-savings idea of to unify on a single height. Brilliant mind (BM): "OK, get this, we can halve the number of products we have to produce that sit on the shelves!" Everyone else (EE): "Oh, how do we do it?!" BM: "We just pick one height!" EE: "*Contemplative silence* God. Yes. Brilliant... But... won't people be mad?" EE: "I mean, there are short people and kids..." BM: "No, no, no, we'll pick the accessible height and then market the change as a feature! This means we'll also get a competitive advantage over other toilet brands who aren't thinking about accessibility!" ~~~ *end scene* ~~~ My beef, TLDR: 1. Public toilets should be as accessible as possible. 2. Companies get to "win" by removing consumer choices. 3. I'm now googling for an artisan toilet bowl maker on Etsy. Good luck everyone. Comments (45)Mtrd, many years ago I drove my son to HS every day.On the way home I would pick up the paper at the local pharmacy. They were right inside the door and used the honor system. I had about a 15 second dash from car to paper and back. Many was the day I was dressed in my nightie under a raincoat with definite bed head. To my horror they moved the papers to the back of the store. No more morning paper for me! Granny panties were the first thing that came to mind although I no longer own any. White bras also seem frumpy to me. Maybe because it's all my mom wears. Elastic waist pants. Love those little gathers all along the back. Ugh. One of my frumpiest items is an ancient pair of Josef Seibel walking shoes. The toe box is totally square and they are so clunky looking. I don't care. I can walk for miles on sidewalks on those things without my knees and hips complaining. Here's something else that I think looks frumpy and I wear all the time in warm weather -- capri pants. No one looks good in them. They cut your leg in half. Until they come up with something that provides some air circulation in the summer yet also covers up older legs, I will be wearing them. However, I only wear them with sandals or ballet slippers. Even I will not be so frumpy as to wear them with sneakers....See MoreBuilding a wardrobe fast, I'm clueless.
Comments (59)What I called shells are plain tops, like tshirts but nicer??? if that makes sense. If you wear anything sleeveless you must wear a blazer or sweater. The first day went OK. Capris are OK if below the knee. Flipflops are OK on fridays and weekends. Wednesday and Thursday you can wear jeans if you pay a dollar for charity BUT you still have to be business casual. I guess your top half is business casual but your bottom is jeans. No ripped jeans ever. Shoes was not really discussed during our orientation so I have to ask about summer shoes. Like flat sandals that are not flipflops. Almost 18 DD paid me a compliment and she didn't even know it. Those shoe/boots I told you about (not sure what to call them). When I showed her, she tried them on. Said they didn't look that great on her. That's as close to a "I like what you picked out Mom" as I'm going to get, LOL....See MoreAm I the only one who gets post purchase regrets?
Comments (28)Since I usually hunt things for a long time, I rarely have regrets. But sometimes I'm being impulsive. For example I'm saving for a bed for my daughter(she has where to sleep no worries..she just dreams about full size bed instead of twin). Yesterday they have all sorts of deals, in honor of Mother's day..I see some nightstands and I fall in love. We don't have matching nightstands in our master; we have other things (huge end table and bookshelf ladder lol) that work nicely and look fine, but it's been years that I wanted to get matching nightstands because I think our bedroom, as much as I love it, might use some relief:) So I buy these nightstands..sale and all, but it's not really cheap. And I know-it's not that I chose wrong, they are adorable, and in worst case if my husband hates them or I have an unexpected bill to pay-they're lightweight and the store is 20 min from us, and we can return it. But could I go without them for another year or two or three or..? Yeah I could. So sitting here full of remorse and guilt.. Also they were new. I know old nightstands that I really tend to love are more expensive than these. I even checked our CL once again, to make sure before making the purchase. But still. Who knows, maybe I'd eventually find a bargain. And now I still have to find this full size bed. I can't even tell myself I gave myself a Mother's Day gift..because I already got a HUGE orchid... Thank you for giving me this great opportunity to confess..because I didn't say a word to my unsuspecting husband yet..:)...See Moremaire_cate
