Comments (6)Thanks for the feedback guys....I truly appreciate the info. Not only are you all so knowledgeable about all this stuff, but it's great just to get others' opinions!! Whenever I post something, I sort of cross my fingers and hope that no one will reply back saying "what are you, crazy or something?!?!?" I just don't really know if my thoughts and ideas are feasible and make sense!! I also have a little situation where the hubby has a little bit of a hard time "seeing outside the box" so if I come up with something even slightly outside what he considers "normal," I have to be sure I can make a really good argument for it. He's always happy to ultimately go with my preferences, but I feel that I want him to understand and appreciate that I'm NOT talking crazy. (Perfect example: he was definitely set to go with the 4" backsplash as part of the countertop, rather than having the backsplash come all the way down to the horizontal surface of the countertop - I posted about it and you all were good enough to post pictures and opinions so that I could explain to him that either way was really fine.) Anyway, thanks again, and I'd certainly appreciate any other opnions or ideas you all can provide. SQ...See MoreHexagon on Backsplash or floor
Comments (9)your 'hex' is exactly the same as my cube backsplashes I posted. I mean, yes, they have 6 sides, but because of the pattern they look like cubes. (they're actually diamonds or rhomboids fit together to make this pattern) The ones you want for the floor have no design and are a true hexagonal tile. just like this one I posted It' looks straight out of the 60's w/a more modern flair. I wouldn't use the larger cubes for your splash. do something in this size That flagstone you have is original. (if you had it professionally stripped, cleaned and redone, it might look pretty good.) I will tell you, getting that removed is going to be a bear. and if you stripped the white paint from your ceiling, you'd fine some fine wood hiding underneath. It's a cute kitchen. look up mcm style or 1960 redone galley kitchens and get ideas. I'd redo the ceiling and bring it back if possible. I'd also do cabinets like shown above. do the hex floor and the white cube splash. bring in color w/accessories. period appropriate but modern. this is not mcm. at all. It's modern style in all gray. mid century was about color and natural wood. the only thing slightly retro about this kitchen is the cube backsplash. if you like, there are plenty of places to order it. Too much gray for my taste. (but if you keep your flagstone floor, that kitchen will tie in great)...See MoreWhat would you do to these kitchen cabinets, backs splash, wood floor
Comments (14)kempek01 The house was done in warm colors until the last couple months when I have started liking cooler colors. Not sure what the change was in me maybe to brighten things up a bit or midlife wall paint change. I'm not good with colors and I wanted more of a gray however this gray is more of a blue it is SW reflection. I think it also makes the cabinets look more orange. Someone suggested SW agreeable gray or one that has warmer tones. I love to paint it actually relaxes me, picking out colors not so much. We are painting our ceilings white as they still have the builder paint. I read your comment to my husband and he asked how much chocolate I need. Thank you for a much needed laugh and to help with the anxiety of all these choices. Again I stink at putting everything together. I should have said that the island cabinet was used as a separation anxiety relief toy for our dog so that does need to get fixed. You are correct on the next owner thank you again for the laugh. Comments (12)the tile above would enhance the natural light you have. it's from Wayfair.com Armangansett 4"x4". I would choose a Midtone wood look tile for the flooring, a large format without much contrast. The cabinets are dark and you'll need a contrast. a floor tile as dark as your cabinets will show dust. Simple, quality is more attractive than trying to Notice all the different components. My opinion. Remember, you'll be Adding alot of Life's accesories......See More- 2 years ago
