LG WM0642H FL Washer Water Level & Suds
Comments (19)Suburbanmd, I actually did run his shirt through 3 sanitize cycles, so maybe it is the soap. Strange thing, on the 10 year old now broken machine, I only used warm/cold setting & FS. Perhaps the FS was masking the smell. Also, we have a recirculating hot water pump that was running, so basically it has instant hot water. Plus, the utility room is the first stop in the hot water loop. I can also verify this, as I just could not resist the temptation to put my hand in the flow of the water to test its temp. I have a load of linens to do tonight or tomorrow that I will do with the Kirkland HE liquid I have on hand and just let the machine do its thing as you say. The linens are not really that soiled, just one night stay by a guest, but still it will be interesting to see how it does and to check the soap level. Janet, it is ironic you mention your model number, as when the delivery folks first delivered my machine and placed it, husband looked at it and said it was not the right one. Turns out it was the WM2016CW! What I do not understand is why of all the models they took the water plus feature out of my chosen model. Do you find that the towels are actually in any water in the drum or have they absorbed it all? Mine has so very little you have to hunt for it and move them over just to find the frog puddle. Maybe this is quite normal for FL machines and being my first, I am used to the concept of water in a wash. I am still concerned about how it will do on the dog blankets and dog hair. How can it rinse the hair out when there is hardly any water? Only trial will tell. Oh, and yesterday it started leaking slightly from the front left hand corner! I wiped up water several times including when I first got up, and no, the only high water time was when it did the error code while wildly filling. I have read that over sudsing can cause leaks, so maybe this high water level reached that point? Then again, it might be something else. Do any of the FL machines actually spray the clothes to rinse them while they are spinning, much like the TL do? It seems like this would add a lot to rinsing the clothes. Thanks, Schutzhund...See MoreReview of LG3677HW (FL Combo Washer/Dryer)
Comments (5)Hi Peter-- Thank you for your note. Yes, I have read about your experience--unfortunately, not until after I had already ordered my machine. (I was active on the Forum last fall, then decided to come back and post my review as one always wonders what happened to people and what they decided and how it worked out) It was then that I read your posts. What a nightmare, indeed! I am hoping that if I need service, Best Buy will come through for me. I chose Best Buy because I noticed that they had a lot of LG machines on the floor--washers, dryers, refrigerators. Using Laudry Forum advice, I asked the manager of large appliances: do you have experienced repair people for LG? He looked surprised and said: Yes, of course. LG is one of our biggest sellers and so we have a support system in place. That reassured me. I hope I don't rue my trust. In any case, I do hope that you find a good replacement machine. I did not respond to your post asking for suggestions because I don't have much to offer. I just know that I was going to go with Thor, but Thor, it seems, was even worse than LG; see my post last fall in the Combo Washer/Dryer thread. No response to my email, and when I actually called, they were annoyed and could never give me a single name of a single repairman. And I live in Chicago! Come on! The Askos scare me bec. of report of leaks from them. Equator seems kind of cheap. Maybe Bosch or Miele for you? MMK...See MoreSpin-Only Mode: Miele W1213/1215 Clothes Washer
Comments (10)You can extrapolate out from waltculver's great tip and access all the other modes in that menu. I do it often to add another manual rinse. Note that these are really just test modes of various cycles and are not automatic, hence the need to stop the mechanical ones. So, you can fill the tub, tumble, stop, drain, stop, spin, stop. Stop is one of the modes so you don't have to reenter the service menu. I wrote down a detailed listing of all the modes in the "U" menu last year after examining what each did. Let me see if I can find it. Otherwise I will list the ones I committed to memory. Those of curious bent can investigate on your own. Just stay in "U" menu and cycle through all the modes with the start-stop button to see what you can do. For most people this is of limited usefulness because of the manual nature but for a certain kind of person it will be useful. I can say with good certainty there is no danger using these modes unless you forget to turn it off and leave the house. You are not changing any settings. Exploring anything outside the "U" menu is uncharted territory and you are on your own....See MoreSpeed Queen washer - spin issue?
Comments (21)There are mechanical considerations such as gearing ratios & "drive train" differences beyond how the motor interfaces to the mechanism. Frigidaire's unimatic mechanism coupled the tub to the motor on a 1:1 ratio for spin, thus the tub spun at the motor's full RPM of 1,140. Whirlpool/Kenmore direct-drive design runs the spin via the transmission with gearing reduction so the motor's 1,725 RPM is translated to the basket as 640 RPM. F&P couples the motor's shaft directly to the basket for spin (and to the agitator for agitation), the motor is computer-controlled variable speed. Calypso is belt-drive with variable speed motor, very small motor pulley with larger basket/nutator pulley....See More- 2 years ago
