Rebuild porch to match existing or replace with larger wood deck style

Doing a near top-bottom renovation of a house we bought last year here in Michigan. We need to tear out the old porch sooner than later as it has settled and the slope runs rainwater back against the foundation and through the block wall into the basement.

We don't really love the current porch as it's fairly small in size (5x8) and the cheapest quote we've received to rebuild it is $15k. Thus, I'm toying with the idea of instead replacing it with a DIY wider porch made of wood with composite decking (see second photo with yellow box). The steps from the sidewalk will obviously be replaced as well.

Any thoughts on if this would be a good or bad route to go?

If I go with wood, are there any specific type of designs which might look best?

A few details playing into the issue:

-The porch faces north so it doesn't get much sun in the winter

-The eave is decent depth but obviously won't cover the entire surface

-The water/sewer main enters the house somewhere below the porch or in the approximate vicinity

-It's a 60's era neighborhood so we'd stick out with the only wood porch

-We may eventually Limewash the brick exterior

-We ripped out all the overgrown landscaping when we moved in and plan to replace it all
