Need help with furniture placement & decor ideas
Thank you to jck910 for suggesting a to scale layout of the room, the space is 19 1/2 x 20 Hope it helps clarify my descriptions/dilemma. The chair & chest in the first photo look lost on the wall. Don't really care for the dated tree but was trying to fill up the space, I am considering having a mat added around the painitng and reframing it to make it larger. The scroll panels will be centered evenly.
I would like the chair to be be closer to the sofa but need a path through, which would cause the chair & chest would be off center on the wall. Don't know what I would even out the remaining wall space with. Tried switching the chair & chest with the
love seat directly across the room but didn't look right to me.
Another issue in the room is there are no electrical plugs in the floor for lamps. There is ample lighting in the ceiling. The lamps on the end tables were for lack of something to place there. The lamps can be pluged in when on the sofa table, As you can see, I need ideas for what to put on the end tables. The curio cabinet will soon be repainted and possibly moved to another room.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Comments (7)So I would look at doing some bookcases with cabinet doors below flanking your fireplace which I would paint white. If you have an IKEA near you, I would look at the Billy series and do a wood light outside with white in the front. Mount your tv over the fireplace. You may need to put it on an arm so you can pull it out beyond the bookcase for better viewing. Look for a smaller scaled sectional in a gray/brown tone but not too dark. An arc lamp with a black shade would tie in the tv and the black on your chair seat. Faux succulent plants would be good. For the entry, a glass top console with art above. Get an area rug slightly larger than the width of the door so that the console table can sit on top. Comments (3)Thank you. Sounds like some great suggestions. It sounds like the wall color should be a cool color in the gray/light blue tone family from what you are saying. I think too that would work better with the painting. I think all pillows here need to go and start over with the colors from painting as you suggest. The cushion on the chair on right could be recovered also in a similar shade of blue from rug. Coffee table not quite the best color, but it is warm and simple feeling. The client could again have some pieces that relate to the painting on the table with colors to tie the table to the room. If you think I am on the right track, please let me know (or not!).
