Monosodium Glutamate

A little while back I had some adverse reactions after eating something with MSG. Since then I have had several similar episodes and on checking what I had recently eaten, it contained MSG. Because MSG is in so many foods, that does not necessarily nail it as the culprit, but I am making an effort to remove all products with MSG at home. That involves some research as some foods can apparently contain MSG or glutamic acids as the result of processing without it having been added. One online article says that aspartic acid can also cause MSG type reactions.

Many articles however say that MSG is generally safe. However, if this experiment in avoiding it stops the reactions, I will make it a point to avoid it from here on in.
