I’m sorry but one is too red and the other is too light. You need a medium brown or a “brown-er red stain” to keep your house cohesive. I have a ton of walnut stained wood trim in my house (door trim, window trim, tray ceiling in part of the living room, custom cabinets in the dining room) and my floors are butterscotch oak. They’re reddish, but darker than your first photo. They work, but if I had chosen my own floor, with all my trim, it would have been a touch darker. The light one doesn’t work (on my monitor) at all.

Diana is right. You need the stain done with your floor person right in the house. It probably needs to be a custom-on-the-spot mix. Red oak is a fantastic wood floor to have! It will be great, but consult with your floor person first.

Are these engineered prefinished floors that you posted?

Thank you for the feedback! These are solid hardwoods that are prefinished. I’d love to get something custom that matches the trim but our budget just doesn’t have room for it. I think we are leaning towards the darker color.

Am I to understand that you are installing new floors? If they are prefinished, and only come in those two colors, I'd do the darker one.

Look for something in the pre-finished lines that are more brown and like Patricia said, closer to the trim color. The one you posted is reading very red.

Llfloring,com is what was Lumber Liquidators. They have a lot of engineered hardwood options so you can find just the right shade of wood.

Definitely the darker. But maybe something with less red would be better.
