Acrylic Free Standing Tub.. are all brands the same??

Looking to buy a free-standing tub for our master bath and super confused with all the options and price variations. Local shops have nothing less than ~$2000 but online we get abundant under $1000!

we are looking for a 61-63" long and as wide as possible. Would love to hear some suggestions and opinions on how folks you have bought this went by choosing one. Is online buying for this ok?

Hi! I don't know where your local shops source their products from and other details of those so it's quite difficult to compare. We do sell locally as well but our prices would be consistent both locally and online.

There are several thing to consider if you are a bath person: the size of the seating area - I have found that a lot of these tubs will have different seating areas based on the slopes of the sides- you want to be able to stretch out a bit; next is the depth of water - what's the point of a soaker tub 24" high that only gets a water depth of 14 or 15" ? A little higher is better; next would be the slope you are leaning against - I have noticed that less expensive tubs don't have the nice angle to recline and be comfortable with a proper lumbar support ( I would look at more expensive tub that discusses that and see what sort of angles those tubs have, then compare to the ones you are looking at ) .

We are going with a freestanding in our new master bath both because we like the looks and also with our layout it worked better. Given the cost of a good tiling job I'm not sure a built-in would have been less expensive than a standalone. We had 2 drop-in tubs (one to be removed with shower stall) and one of them still in-- acrylic-- which we put in 12 years ago and somewhat regret now because it flexes and the grout cracked over time so it has needed a lot of maintenance. (this is mostly because of the material we chose). But when our kids were younger they loved the bubbles!

aam31, the Amalfi which is what I sat in at Ferguson is around that width, and my husband and I felt comfortable. For reference, I am a 6'1" female and my husband is 6'0" and we are both broad shouldered. The Mozzano is 29 inches wide and I felt it was a little snug and I also didn't feel like I could stretch out as much. Not Bob the Builder, I can see why you would say that. I am a very tall female with long legs. My husband and I are runners and it's important for us to have a nice tub that I can stretch out and soak in after long runs. My old house had an acylic garden tub and although it was nice and deep, I couldn't even straighten my legs and it didn't hold in heat. I am choosing a V and A tub because it has a 25 year warranty and it being made of stone, it will hold warmth in longer so I can soak comfortably longer. I feel like it's worth the investment :)

We just bought our Dynasty Spa - Neptune - Atlantis model with all the bells and whistles!!! and we love it!! We live in Nashville Tn and the spa is manufactured here so we felt very comfortable with our purchase and the history of the company. I think it is the only spa that has a 3 pump system and had the most foot room at the bottom. We shopped around for a while and you really need to get in them and try them out as far as how you sit in them. My husband is 6'5 and this was really the only spa that would accomidate his height and suit me as well. We filled it 2 weeks ago and I have been in it every change I get, the thermostate is set on 93 and its really nice even in this kind of heat. Shop around and I think you will see that this is a very nice spa that is in a leauge of its own. Im not a sales rep, Im just very satified with our choice!! I have the nature2 system to sablize the water. Its a small tube that fits in the filter of your spa and reacts for 3 months. When we get out of the spa I put a cap full of the sani-spa and the chemicals have been good so far. Good Luck

You might consider going to a reliable site like build.com. My American Standard acrylic tub had a list price of over $3000, which is what they wanted to charge me locally. I got it at build.com for $1600, with free shipping, and it was sent from California to Washington State in 2 days. A no-name acrylic tub might be fine, or it might have problems in a few years. I prefer cheap, name brand with a reliable warranty.
