I had something similar that I bought because my sister had one that was very comfortable. I guess I didn't get the same kind because mine was not comfortable sitting for any length of time. I gave it to someone in the family and went back to LazyBoy. I love how yours looks and I hope it fits you well and you can while away many hours in it.

We had one similar to that for years in dark brown leather with the footstool . It was called a Stressless chair, and is Scandinavian in design. It became known as our "surgery chair" because we could comfortably sleep and propel ourselves out of it (DH had hernia surgeries, I had a hysterectomy and subsequent abdominal surgeries). So very comfortable! Did you get another cat, or is that one you are sitting for?

Seagrass, we have a store that sells the Stressless chairs as well, but they are far too spendy for me. This one isn't as comfortable as those, as it shouldn't be, because of the cost difference, but it's still nice!

I WILL keep Elliott but Flossie I'm returning. She has a wonderful personality, wants to go everywhere I do......down the stairs to the first landing, out on the balcony, with me on the couch, etc, but she has health issues because of her obesity (they both eat very little), and she's a loud purrer and snorer. Constant noise LOL.

Looks nice and comfy! I had a huge oversuffed chair and ottoman I used to read from in my sunroom. It wasn't pretty, a floral design, and I got it dirt cheap at Big Lots. I really miss it. I am thinking of getting an Ikea chair but half the time I check either it or the ottoman isn't available. I want another reading chair.

Jasdip- we have one similar and had one before as well. We had tried it in a hotel once and were so surprised how incredibly comfy it was. DH has a bad back with lots of issues and this chair was so comfy. Previously we had super clunky recliners, but this style is even more comfy.

We actually need a replacement and I am not finding them. Was your purchased online?

Anyway that's my long way of saying I love it and I believe you will love it more and more as you use it.

I bought a similar chair and ottoman in black leather from the Dania chain about 40 years ago. DH never grew fond of it. DS took both pieces with him when he moved out and is still using them. I hope your chair brings you such long term comfort. (Glad you've found *your* cat -- and agree about keeping just the one.)

Lars, your barrel chair reminds me of two more mundane all fabric button-back chairs we bought from Century Furniture twenty years ago. They're everyone's favorites. They are well made, but I think the secret is the 'spring/down' upholstery option.

It is considered an Eames style chair but not a true Eames chair. These run as much as $8-10K brand new, almost double that for a vintage model and $1500-2K for a replica.

Are you at all concerned about kitty claws and the leather? I've thought about a Stressless chair, but I'm afraid what our cats would do to the leather.

I thought about claws when I decided I wanted leather.

All of my cats have been declawed (front) this is the first time I have a fully clawed cat. He's long enough that he jumps up easily (he stands 15" tall and is long). Neither he nor Flossie use the furniture as scratch pads, but Elliott does like to stretch and pick at the hall carpet. I say his name in a forceful way and that usually breaks his attention span. I have to work on him. Same in the bed, he'll knead the comforter and I hear the picking.

Their rear claws can do some damage jumping off of things. The top of my cedar chest bears the proof of that. 🙁

You should get him a scratching post. I have a few and all get used.
