I'm here. Been a busy day, hiking, dog sitting, dinner with the kids for DH's birthday.

For anyone who knows about - I can't remember which poster it is that has the NOC (not our cats) that basically live with her - I figure that the bonus is NOC returning home. :)

I’ve been up since the crack of dawn enjoying all our freshly fallen snow. It’s been a beautiful day.

I laughed when I saw #3. I think I know what it is and the only person I have ever heard use that term is my British mother. I thought it was unique to her.

We’ve been busy all day too and went to see Blue Man Group this evening, i opened it earlier and ran thru it, then wished I hadn’t. A real puzzler this time. I did get a few more after looking at them again. Still have some work to do.

I just got here. I was gone all day since it was 75 so a hike was done with my daughter and then we belatedly had my birthday party at my son's house. The kids gave me some really cool and unique gifts.

Hey Everyone! Had a full day yesterday and forgot to come by and look for these last night. Yikes. Based on Roxsol's first comment, I'm wondering if some of these are non-American phrases that I wouldn't know....or at least I'm hoping so, because they're sure not obvious to me!

First glance, I have no idea for 1, 3, 7, 13, 14, 17 and 18; and don't have the bonus.

I'm relieved to see I'm not the only one bumfuzzled by this game! So far, I have nothing for 1, 3, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, and 18. And the bonus.

I have 7 and 17 now, and I have *something* for 1...it's kind of a stretch, but if it's right, it's kind of funny/clever. I can't imagine what else that would be, so maybe it's right?

I’m not totally sure on the bonus but driving around in the bright white snow gave me an idea. 😎 I like my answer, even if it is wrong.😀

#13, you’d have to be acquainted with Canadian/British politics, I think.

HINT ALERT -

For 1, staring at the question mark eventually made me think of The Riddler.....so then that part of the phrase for me changed from question to riddle. So think of a synonym for riddle. The first part clicked actually when you said you were reminded of something your mother used to say.....I suddenly thought of something my grandmother used to say if someone was angry. So think of a synonym for angry to describe that word, in other words, never a 'mean thing' to say...

I hope I'm right or I'm going to look pretty silly - ha!

Letters, I'm thinking you've come to the same answer for 1 as I have. Seems far-fetched, but kind of clever.

My mother used to say “can’t ——-for toffee”.

It could be dance, cook, sing, sew……whatever, but it couldn’t be done for toffee. 🙄

I never heard the toffee one, either.

For 18, i had ”right to liberty” which I think makes more sense, except for the vertical orientation. ”downright liberty” is not an expression I’m familiar with.

14 is a good one, I could’ve gotten that; 13 I understand now that i see it, but I never would’ve put ’the commons’ and ’house’ together. Clever bonus, too, I think. I probably should’ve gotten that one. Fun.

The 12 that I answered I got 11 of them.

I’ve never heard the Toffee saying. Or downright Liberty. I had The Right to Liberty. That wasnt the only reason I didn't do well.

Whoa - seems like a lot of maybe UK phrases? Some of those are definitely unfamiliar.

I did better than I thought I would! Only missed eight of them. I've never heard the toffee saying, either, but I should have gotten 18, 'downright' is an adjective that's fairly common around here, as in "This puzzle was downright hard!"
