Comments (13)I have this Hooker pedestal round table in my kitchen eating area and love the color it is a light/medium walnut....so pretty....the finish on top is indestructible.....I added black chairs with upholstered seat cushion but for your area I would add ivory chairs..so many to choose from painted or upholstered. the 60” fits 6 Chairs very nicely. ....See MoreHelp with open-concept living room/dining room furnishings
Comments (23)Great, Sally. Hope we didn't overwhelm you with too much information. Most of us do go for a holistic approach to space since no single element exists in a room by itself; they connect through layout, style, finishes, palettes. Sometimes the "problem child" isn't the actual problem, or the only problem, and getting a bunch of alternative suggestions can be useful. Your room is lovely as is, frankly. If you are getting wood flooring, that will definitely modernize the room without your doing anything else. Feel free to post again with all the details at the outset--i.e. not loving the paint, getting wood floors, etc.--then people won't chime in with too much information. Good luck with your new home. You have beautiful pieces....See MoreStruggling with dining table in open concept room
Comments (6)So open the french doors and put a big X on the floor with blue painter’s tape, with each line of the X being 60”. The center of the X should be under the light fixture (for now — you can always re-dangle a pendant somewhere else) Do you need such a deep buffet and a mirror on that wall? This is 14” deep https://www.chairish.com/product/2965812/mid-century-modern-lane-furniture-perceptions-walnut-buffet-with-hutch This is a bit over 16” deep https://www.chairish.com/product/4844340/1970s-vintage-faux-bamboo-broyhill-china-cabinet...See MoreHelp with Furniture Layout - Open Concept (Kitchen/Dining/Living Room)
Comments (3)If you want a TV in that room the only place it can really go is to the right of the fireplace (maybe to the left if you find that works better for you). It is never recommended to put it over the fireplace unless there is nowhere else for it to go. You have more than enough space on the right for a nice console. Maybe in the future you can do something more dramatic with the fireplace as it looks small in that large wall (or maybe you are already and it's not finished yet). Put a tall piece of art over it (something that is less wide than the fireplace). Face your sofa toward the fireplace and TV. The dining table should have the long side parallel to the slider. I can't imagine it fitting the other direction. I don't think it's a bad thing to have your old furniture in there for a while. It will help you get an idea of the right size for new pieces. You may also get better advice if you post a graph paper drawing of the space so the commenters know exactly how much space you're working with. The perspective in pictures is sometimes misleading....See Moredenise115brown
