Choosing a dining table color for open floor plan
I need help choosing a dining table. I want a circle dining table but I don't know if I should get glass or a wood and if I get wood, should it be the color of the cabinets/floor or should it be a different color? I have have an open floor plan kitchen/dining area/living room. The kitchen has dark wood cabinets, gray counter tops and dark wood floors that is slightly lighter than the cabinets. The walls are gray with white trimming. The fireplace at the end of the living room has a dark wood panel with gray, brown and white stone. I plan on purchasing a taupe/neutral colored sofa and using metallics, gray and blush pink as my accent colors in the living room. I would like to lighten up the room as much as possible. Please help! (furniture pictured are from previous owners).

Comments (3)I want to tell you 1 key tip for lighting, don't put the cart before the horse. You MUST put your furniture in the space, right now you can't "see" the space, and that is what is making it so hard. once things are in the space, and the rooms shrink, you will have a much better idea of not only what will look pretty but will actually function for you. also, things like the size of the table are very important when scaling. Comments (10)Hi Gretchen. I can’t see the layout 😢 To me, when I look at that door I see way too much detail in the profile, all of it outlined in black, in addition to the distressed wood. It is a very heavy look for a small space. This is about what you like. If you like the glaze, go for it, but I think you should look at images of spaces in which that door has been installed, and make sure it gives you the look you are hoping for. So what is the look you are hoping for? I think you need inspiration images. Google images of small kitchens that use wood cabinetry and see what you think is pretty. You will learn a lot about your own taste, and you will get a lot of good information from them. I only found one with wood cabinets that I thought pretty, but I’m sure you will find more. By the way, the way to keep your space from looking like a wood suit is to choose a darker (or much lighter) wood for the cabinets than the oak of the floors. Since you used the word “modern” I’m going to just let you know that a simpler door profile in walnut would be gorgeous. If you go with wood, it doesn't have to feel dark/heavy with the right chairs and the idea below with the grey charis' style suits your kitchen and picks up on your counter and I would try to match up the wood surface to your floors. As well, with many wood tables, you can extend when needed.

6 years agoI have this Hooker pedestal round table in my kitchen eating area and love the color it is a light/medium walnut....so pretty....the finish on top is indestructible.....I added black chairs with upholstered seat cushion but for your area I would add ivory chairs..so many to choose from painted or upholstered.
the 60” fits 6 Chairs very nicely.
