Oh, Sandy, that buck story is hilarious. LOL. As for an intercom system, I don't have one of those now, but did when my girls were babies. My dad made it for me. I was always afraid I wouldn't hear them, but they both had great lungs. Once, he rigged up an old school bell to my phone. It's not funny, yet it was, but the reactions of company when the phone rang, would crack you up. A couple of folks were out the door before they realized what it was. I have been able to have the windows open all day the past week, and it is neat to hear all the noises from outside, waterfall included. I have to be careful though, cause sounds like that probably keep my husband up at night. Poor, wonderful guy. The things he will do for me. When I first found out 2 years ago, it rattled me a little, but it is just one of those things that have to be taken in stride. I've been keeping myself up to date on the progress of research into Retinitus Pigmentosa, which is what I have, plus the hearing loss, and things look promising. Will wait and see, and in the meantime, I will walk verryy carefully. A sense of humor helps alot, and I told my daughter, who is 20, that someday she could call me Helen Keller. She said, "Who's that?" I just shook my head and laughed. Gosh, I love those girls. :)

There's more to changing between induction and gas than just the length. No matter what, it's highly unlikely that you'll find one that actually fits the cutout. If you seriously think changing is a possibility, make sure to save scraps of your counter top material, backsplash tiles and any other materials you're using, so that you can fill in the hole a little and cut to fit the new cooktop. Often, when old appliances die and new ones are put it (which aren't the same size at that future date even if the equivalent models at the time the first one was bought were exactly the same), the installer will make a trim out of wood or stainless or whatever you want to fill any gaps. I've seen this done several times, and you have to really look to notice it.

I'm starting to think my DH is a polygamist with wives all over the place 'cause we all seemed to be married to the same guy. I rarely send Clive for anything, it has to be a last minute emergency type thing. I try and keep it simple, try to be very clear, encourage him to call me on the cell.....and still! A few weekends ago we were having a family gathering that involved fresh rolls for meatball, sausage and roasted veggie sandwiches. I was concerned that I may not have enough but was in the middle of prep so I asked DH to go to the bakery for me. I showed him the buns I had and told him if they didn't have them get another roll that would work well for what I was serving, told him to ask the baker for a suggestion. Well they were out of the Italian buns I wanted so DH asked for rolls that would be good for sandwiches for a "fancy" party....he came home with croissants! LOL

Agree with mr.havac, most valves have multiple usage. A valve that has WOG on it can be used with water, oil or gas. I don't know where you can use a sweat valve on gas??. Most gas valves are flared or threaded. Don't fret it, as long as the valve is not leaking, leave it alone. Lots of luck .............................................
