Bi-fold doors mounted on a Wall?

Our laundry area, in a nook "closet" with the hot water heater, needs to have doors installed to cover it all. Because the depth of the closet isn't quite deep enough to accomodate the depth of the washer/dryer we are forced to install something on the outside wall. Is there a bi-fold that installs on the wall not the ceiling? is there another solution, other than "Hang Curtains"? Thanks in advance.

Barn door?

If you don't mind seeing the washer and dryer, you could install a panel to cover the hot water heater and just unscrew it when you need access, which you probably won't need very often.

How much space does one need to allow from the wall onto which a bi-fold door will open to where you have clearance to pull out a drawer? I have just over 36" wall to wall to be covered with one bifold pair - and I want to get a couple of Container Store pull out drawer units. They total 32". Is 4" enough for the door and whatever hardware would be needed for it to fold against the wall and allow me to pull out the drawers?

How much do you need to bump it out in order to clear your dryer? Maybe bi-fold door can be replaced with a barn door which has an overhead track if there is enough wall space on the side/s for the doors to slide. Even if there is room on one side you can get a wide enough barn door made to open to one size. Something like this if it can be done. If not maybe you can bump the opening out just enough for the track and trim it out to hide everything (depending on how much you need to come out and the surrounding area around your laundry room location)... But when you installing bi-fold doors most likely you will need to put at least one screw into the floor to secure the bracket. You can try and see if you can get away by screwing just into the jamb (you usually have 3 screws there)

We had louvered doors on all of our closets and switched them out. There was only one closet that we noticed a ventilation issues and we cut a hole and installed a vent. It's painted the same color as the wall and you can't even tell it's there.

I would probably construct a hard valance right at the ceiling, and paint it the wall color, and behind it I would put a ceiling mounted single piece solar material roller shade closest to the glass but clearing any hardware, and a ceiling mounted track or traverse rod to mount decorative panels on. Those I might stack asymmetrically to the right so they did not interfere with operable doors, depending upon the fabric. The shade would be hidden when not in use and the panels would be optional or could be taken down occasionally without the problem of having exposed hardware there.

I like Sigrid’s idea. The machines are not unsightly, and they will be easier to use if they are uncovered.
