Orange fruit scale

Is orange fruit scale harmful to human if ingested? Or should it be scraped (a long and tedious process) from each fruit before peeling? Please take a look at the attached photo. Could these tiny suckers attach to the esophagus and stomach lining?

We have sulfuric acid in our stomachs that will quickly digest them. And scales do not eat animal flesh. I did not look up anything but I can not see how any scale insect that attacks plants would harm humans.

...and if you plan to peel, don't worry anyway. If they gross you out, a vegetable brush might knock enough off to be less offensive.

To quote my mother (who was a microbiologist and not a nutritionist), "It's just extra protein!" :)

Aha. Stage rat, I think the problem was that you put in 'flower'. Your photo doesn't show a flower. It shows the fruit only which is a pink container holding orange berries. Inside the berries is the seed. This combination of pink and orange and the four section container is trademark Euonymus. Yours isn't E americanus. That has rough, warty fruit, not smooth. E atropupureus has paler pink capsules. E europaeus is similar to yours, but, sadly, the most likely candidate is the invasive E alatus.
