what should I do my free fruit
Comments (21)I went a little crazy last year so I still have a lot on the shelves. I have been giving some of it to my friends. This year I'm trying to keep it to stuff that I get free and cherries. I really liked the cherry amaretto jam I made last year so I'll make at least one batch of that gifts. I'm going to try to get some more sour cherries tomorrow. I saw a tree on public land. As far as I know it is fair game. And I am out of pepper jelly so I need some of that for me and bunches of people are lined up to buy some at our craft fair in November. The quinces in my neighborhood will have to become jelly (for the craft fair also). My friend who moved has a huge plum tree also. If her landlord (who is going to sell the house so it should be empty) doesn't lock the gate I'm going to try to get those too. Oh yeah, and I thought I would make apple pie jam for the craft fair also. That should be enough to keep me busy. It really sounds like much more than I intended now that I list it out. Oops....See MoreHow can I add photos to my posts?
Comments (15)Larry, you may be behind last year, but you are ahead of me. My tomatoes are only about 4 inches high, but they look nice. I actually had to start over once. I started with a poor starting mix the first time and it dried out so quickly that I gave up and started over. Even after that, I planted too many seeds and probably have 60-70 plants, but I don't have a lot of variety. Outside I have planted onions, potatoes and a few peas. I threw some corn salad seeds in the onion bed, but I think the birds cleaned most of it up before it sprouted. When we had a hail threat, I covered one onion bed with row cover just to make sure I didn't lose them all, but the hail didn't come. I think the robins are having a family reunion in my garden this year. When we get past the next 10 days, then I will worry about getting everything in....See MoreMy dream style - what do I call it? Comments (24)bodica and nan53 - I got really excited when you both mentioned Scandinavian. That's what I had in mind, too. I think it's the stenciled pattern around the window that does it. Anyway, I love what could be called Old World, Bavarian, Black Forest, Scandinavian folk art, etc... I want a really elaborate cuckoo clock for Christmas next year! I also like the descriptions of Colonial and Early American. I figure these are styles that won't be dated in 10 years. I'm in the middle of painting our old, dark paneling to a nice crisp white, and the above kitchen photo best illustrates the new look I want for the whole house. These are photos of my living room with one wall painted and another not. I know the baskets and African animals aren't exactly Old World or Early American - I'll deal with that later. I'll do the rest of the painting when I can. I'll be stenciling a vine and berry design around the top of the wall and a smaller, complimentary pattern around the windows and fireplace. I detest the textured spackle ceilings and want to replace them, but can't decide how. I'd like stained beadboard on the ceiling if it's not too busy with the grooved paneling (more about that idea elsewhere on Gardenweb...). I'll probably be replacing the curtains with solid white battenburg lace ones, and the rust-colored carpet with hardwood. You may notice that one window is plain and the other has what looks like a multi-paned window grille. It's masking tape. I put it there to decide whether I wanted the window grilles. I do. Oh, yeah, and I need to win the lottery too! :)...See MorePlease recommend another free photo site with easy linking
Comments (16)To use picasa, once you have on your screen the photo you want to use, go to the right and click "link to this photo". You can choose the size of the photo as well as your privacy level. Then it spits out some HTML for link to or embed. Copy the stuff in the embed box. Then stick that into a post. I'm old school and use (img src=whateverthatstuffintheboxwas) using the pointy carets (sp?) instead of parentheses....See MoreHU-754430488
