Please recommend another free photo site with easy linking

Since Photobucket is still down for some people (including me), and since I've paid for an annual membership, can you recommend a free photo site that is easy to link pictures here? Thanks, and I know this is technically OT.

Tinypic, though I think that they are owned by Photobucket.

I have a snapfish account, but I don't think it lets you embed pictures. I cannot find links to pictures, only links that you'd have to click on to go to the web site, which is not what I want.

Greenmantle nursery has several red fleshed crabapples, called the Sweetmeat crab hybrids. The website is a delight to read, with interesting information on EtterÂs hybridization of apple trees. I asked the owner to recommend a red fleshed apple that was the sweetest (some can be very sour). He suggested the Rubaiyat as being one of the best reds, and the Muscat de Venus as being one of the best crabapples, although it doesnÂt have red flesh. They were only available as bench grafts. He doesnÂt wrap his scions of the graft in parafilm tape, so they die more easily than other nurseries. IÂm on my third Rubaiyat, with no buds yet, trying to get one to live. The Muscat de Venus has leafed out, and looks like itÂs going to make it. Kuffelcreek Nursery offers the Etter 16-32 Crab as a bench graft, as well as several other crabapples, but are sold out for 2008. All the bench grafts IÂve ordered from there live, and grow big the first year. The Dorset Golden I bought from there is fruiting its second year from a benchgraft. Trees of Antiquity offers two red fleshed crabapples, which sound like the sour kind ("makes good pickles"). TheyÂre sold out also.

This has to do with pictures that belong to other people and websites where people are paying for the bandwidth that they use. Like cell-phone minutes, sort of. If, for example, you go to my website and see an orchid picture you want to use on your website. There are two things you can do. First option is to simply copy it to your website. If you don't have permission, that is simple theft of intellectual property but is not an actual out-of-pocket expense for me. Second, you can put the full URL of the picture in you web page. That is not only theft of the picture, but doing it costs me money, because every time it is loaded by anybody in the world, it uses my bandwidth. Insult to injury, so to speak. FYI, on Snapfish using Firefox, if you put the cursor over the picture, right mouse click and select "Copy image location" you will get the full URL. Paste that in the browser and you will see the picture. Snapfish probably wants people to see the photos on their page not included in other web pages. I see their point since they are selling a service. It may be your picture, but it is their bandwidth. BTW, I am incredibly easy with giving permission for my pictures if they are copied and I am given credit as photographer. Ask, tho, non-commercial purposes only especially not eBay. ;-> Back to posting pictures. If you have your own pictures on your own website, then add links all you want. Use a photo editor to reduce the size. I do many of my pictures 432px (6 inches) wide with a quality level of 4 (the low end of medium).

Well, she's in the ground :)! Yesterday, during late afternoon shade, I dug deep and wide to give the best chance. The garden bed's top 6 inches is run-of-the mill garden soil and then heavy clay begins - solid clay at least 1.5 ft down. I didn't dig deeper but know it continues thanks to last summer's experience. I'm a little concerned that the clay floor and wall that runs around the hole will cause issues but, hopefully, I've amended the area adequately. In the bottom, I put about 8 inches of triple mix (peat, compost, manure), gently roughed the roots, set the bush on top of a pyramid pile, sprinkled some bonemeal around, filled in, firmed and watered. Watered a bit more this morning, too, just in case. Feel free to tell me where I goofed ;-). Now, I'm on the hunt for clematis (maybe Piilu)...and probably one more rose...The bug has bitten :). Karenforroses - I loved your pairing of veronica with your Macy's Pride. I picked up two to accompany mine - Royal Candles. Pretty sure sweet William will go in there as well. I have seedlings on the go but just heard they'll not bloom til next year. Ah, well. Off-topic: Others I picked up on the same trip- nemesia Berries n Cream, heliotrope, stock, dianthus Arctic Fire and coreopsis Moonbeam. The coreopsis will go near some salvia May Night at the side of the house...I haven't decided about the others - containers or beds, time will tell. The nemesia smalls out of this world!!! You'd need to use the HTML(Hypertext Markup Language) code instead of the BBC code Dave. Lots of forums do use BBC(Bulletin Board Code) and the code you used would work there, but not here. You may need to change your Photobucket settings to show HTML links to see the proper code: Another way would be to just use the direct image link in this simple HTML code: <img src="URL_of_the_Image"> For your image, try posting this: <img src="http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc352/Surface_Tension/2012/2012 garden/IMG_2364.jpg"> Good luck. Edit: Actually, I see in my screenshot that Photobucket is calling the BBC code "IMG code", but that's what it is though, Bulletin Board Code. I don't recommend any free sites and left photobUcket a while back. If you decide to dump them I can recommend smugmug.

Thanks. Smugmug it is (for the 14 day trial). Photobucket has to be fixed by then...

Pictures are now back up for master bedroom drapes, living room drapes, and new chair posts.

I use shutterfly....free....once you pull up your image, you have to click it to get the menu for "image address" and copy and paste it here. It's not a problem once you know how. And they guarantee they will never dump your pics.

You might like smugmug enough to keep it. The help desk usually responds very promptly to email support requests.

Maybe I'm crazy, but the photo quality on smugmug appears to be better. It's almost as if photobucket was doing a half-assed upload of the picture quality.

I didn't want to say that, but I definitely think pictures look better on smugmug. I still use a free photobucket account for certain things but its a pain. I started using smugmug when I realized the paid version of PBucket wasn't much better than the free one and overlapped the two paid accounts (sm and pb) for about 8 months. Didn't regret doing that and have now had sm for about six years.

If you have an iPad, you can just upload from your pictures there to the "Image File to Upload" and then "Choose Existing." Of course, you can only add one per post. I wish that would change, but it sure is easy. I will add one that way here.

Picasa is very easy, although you need a google account.

I use Flickr, and find it very simple to use.

You can post as many pictures as you like in one message, you can choose to make them private if you don't want other people browsing through your photos, and the uploading is a snap.

I'm a complete technodolt, so if I think it's easy, it really is!

Another Flickr fan. Easy to upload & organize, even in large batches. I think their image quality is excellent -- some sites exhibit deteriorated image quality after uploading to them. Also, Flickr's Android app is great: excellent image quality on one's phone, too.

To use picasa, once you have on your screen the photo you want to use, go to the right and click "link to this photo". You can choose the size of the photo as well as your privacy level. Then it spits out some HTML for link to or embed. Copy the stuff in the embed box. Then stick that into a post. I'm old school and use (img src=whateverthatstuffintheboxwas) using the pointy carets (sp?) instead of parentheses.
