Wall and trim color to go with BM White Dove cabinets? Help please. :)
Comments (20)I would love to see pictures also as i have White Dove kitchen Cabinets and was looking at using Winds Breath for all the walls in the house and White Dove for all the doors and trim,in pearl finish . My floors through out the house will be Ambiance’s Hickory Silver Mint which is a hand scraped Hickory greige, very warm. I sometimes see mauve in the floor and if the Winds Breath can lean towards a pink hue will this bring the mauve out of the floor or will the floor bring the pink out of the walls. The kit hen, dining and living room face south so very bright with natural light. All out lights are 4000K. Would appreciate any help. Thank you...See MoreI spy a bright white cabinet door at IKEA! Comments (62)@tee8 We just got this fridge for the remodel and it’s working great. We wanted the in-door ice and this model has that without making the left hand door feel too bulky. We had a standard depth side-by-side from the 90’s before buying this one. It only stuck out a few more inches but I think it makes the kitchen feel totally different to have everything flush. In the tight U layout, every inch counts. Space-wise I much prefer the top/bottom fridge! I have no idea if we gained or lost cubic foot storage but it feels like everything fits so much better....See MoreWhite Trim/cabinet color to go with BM Pale Oak that is NOT White Dove
Comments (11)Interesting suggestions, all! I have the Samplize of Simply White and many times i have seen people say they see "yellow" so I'm a bit leery of that. Mountain Peak White - yes, need to check that out. And White Opulence isn't one I would have looked at but now I'm thinking maybe? But I see bit of pink - and I have seen a wee bit of pink in Pale Oak at times - would White Opulence bring it out even more (which I don't want). What color white would have the opposite effect (keeping it the greige that I see in "normal" light)? That is one thing that is keeping me away from the White Dove, I read somewhere that the grayish tone was bringing out the pink in Pale oak. And thank you to Beth H for that pic on lighting. I have to check into what we have selected and whether I need to adjust that....See MoreRepainting - simply white trim & white dove or cloud cover walls?
Comments (7)OK I will tell you that until you know what your countertops will be, picking color for your cabinets is going to be very tricky. As to BM Simply White for trim, that is in the Yellow Hue family, and it has a Chroma of .5 which means it has very little color in it; and it has an LRV (light reflective value) of 90. 100 is highest reflective number so that will reflect a lot of light. Nice for trim, and I like "satin" for the finish. Now for wall color. BM White Dove has a Chroma of .58 and an LRV of 83. We like more separation of Chroma (at least .20) and this is way too close. I don't think that will work. So you are in a tricky spot not knowing some key variables such as countertop colors. I think if you want light colors, I would do either of these two colors, but use different "finishes". It will vary from room to room due to light conditions. Since your carpet is tan, and your flooring is dark brown, I think I would lean toward the BM White Dove since it has a bit more warmth to it than Simply White. SW Alabaster has nice lightness and many have used it for both trim and walls, etc. Use Satin finish for your trim, flat or matte for walls and ceiling....See MoreJonathan Lai
