Looking for paint color for re-do of bedroom to bedroom/workout room
Comments (0)Hi, Looking for help identifying a paint color for my daughter's old bedroom as we transition it to a guest bedroom/workout room. The attached photos show what color the walls are today, which are pretty similar to the rest of the house. Sort of a light beige. I was hoping to try something different - but not so different that the room looks like it's from a different house :-) The bed and the lamp is the only furniture that has to stay, the rest is on it's way out. Planning to get an exercise bike, tv and have yoga mat (in photo). Also want to replace the window coverings and hope to find someone that can refinish the hardwood floors underneath the carpet. Also, are feature walls still a thing? Thanks for any ideas!...See Moreall bedrooms be master bedroom?or a big public bathroom is better?
Comments (12)I would think the most popular configuration would be what is typical for a house with three bedrooms. It would have a master bedroom with an ensuite of a nice size. A nice shower would be preferred by most people rather than a tub and small shower or a tub shower combination. The two guest bedrooms would share a bathroom and that bathroom would have a tub shower combination. I have always lived in dense urban areas (Manhattan and now Los Angeles high rise condo) and that would be the configuration for your target audience. Having three small master bathrooms would be a configuration if you were renting to three unrelated people who needed to share the rent and personally I don't think that is the optimum tenant as families and empty nesters are more reliable and probably long term versus constantly moving as young unrelated professionals would....See MoreExterior bedroom door opens to bedroom closet
Comments (8)A lot of this is going to depend upon your local codes, I think. In some places they may want it to swing in, only, and it some it may be able to swing out. In some locations, a sliding door will not count as an egress door, it would have to be a swinging door. However in many instances a door would not be necessary for the emergency egress you talk about (which I realize is not the door's primary use) if you have an appropriate egress window. I feel like a closet would have to be awfully large to have a useful exterior door in it. A closet is not typically designed for passage to someplace else on a regular basis....See MoreBedroom 1, Bedroom 3 and Kitchen ALWAYS Hotter
Comments (7)Hi, HU, Given the diversity of foundations (crawl, basement, and slab,) the different roofs in your home (gable, flat and low-slope,) and 30-year old ductwork, a 4 F temperature differential across the entire home isn't all that bad. I suggest you consider installing a smart thermostat with temperature sensors in multiple rooms. You can then select whether to average them or choose a particular room to use as the input for temperature control. It's not clear whether you were referring to a lack of a soil vapor retarder in the crawl space, but if you don't have one, I'd make it a priority to add it....See Moreres2architect
