Linear drain or center drain? What size floor tile? Does tray fit or need to be cut? if cut. How much?

What is the plan for tying the pan to the walls? What is your plan for the curb? What is your overall waterproofing designed plan?

Floor tile is basalt herringbone mosaic tile, the drain is offset middle.
Curb is Schluter. The tray had to be cut a bit to fit 6’ shower.

We got the Schluter shower system. Including the walls.

The mosaic will conform to the slope. Balance the layout to the walls and cut the tiles to meet the drain grate. I suggest pre cutting the entire shower floor before mixing the setting mortar. This will allow you to concentrate on the installation and decrease the concern of the mortar skinning over while making cuts. Cutting into the tray over a couple inches will create a dip along the wall as you are cutting into a concave surface. This can be exaggerated due to the build up from membrane and prefab corners used for waterproofing. Be sure not to triple lap banding material in the corners. 2" overlap is required. The vertical band material will leave enough of the prefab corner exposed to achieve the 2" lap with the banding from floor to wall. Always flood test.

Thank you for the tips, much appreciated. Another question- what do you use to transition corner that meets the wall? One side tiles/ one side wall. We are looking at different Schluter edges.
Also - do you use Schluter edge between the floor (shower pan) tiles and the wall tiles?

FLOOD TEST !

100% silicone sealant in changes of plane. Made by grout manufacturers to match grout colors. Profile trims can be used but that is very difficult especially with the dips in cut trays as I mentioned above.

I lament the lack of bullnose and edge specific tile for many of the tiles that people choose to install. The solution seems to be Schluder edge profile...but I've never liked the look

Jeff, The OP was considering profile trim (expansion profile) where tile meets tile in corners instead of caulk/sealant. I agree with you about appearance. Here on Houzz folks are swept up with marketing and limiting their options How often do we see comments state "use a piece of Schluter". Schluter is a company. Not a product. There are so many choices for tile profiles. I'm not recommending one over the other.

new problem today....

we are 90 degrees outside corner, where time meets the corner of "green board" (moisture resistance). it is outside of the shower, as our tile end up all the way to corner and beyond the shower sliding door. How do you secure the corner. we bought schluter Jolly 1/2 inch, but I don't thing it will work. you still end up with wall abut the trim. Not pretty. any ideas?

Use regular drywall corner bead or mesh tape first. Drywall compound on the outside and thinset mortar on the Kerdi board. You can apply the jolly afterwards. It appears to be lacking fasteners at the inside corners. Doesn't hurt to have more than needed as Kerdi board is extremely flexible.

My husband says he needs to add membrane to the corner to waterproof using thinset. He then add the corner bead and add more thinset on that side? Isn’t going to be really bulky and create little hill before you even apply the tile?
