Sage green painted wood cabs
Comments (15)Mydreamhome, thanks for posting the link. So many wonderful pictures to look at and great ideas! Sas95, your kitchen is so pretty! Thanks for sharing. Farmhousebound, so unique and love the contrast. The open shelves are so attractive. We have a lot of pets and vacuum up a ton of hair every day so those would be a big no no for us but they look so nice in your kitchen. Honeychurch, I am a def a green person but I love that blue cab! There is something so rich about that blue. CEF, I know exactly what you mean. I begged DH to paint the living room. It was done in a pale blue by PO, nothing wrong with that, but I am a green person. Everyone said choose one shade lighter than what you want. I had a light sage to choose from and a really dark sage because I wanted to use the FreshAire paint which has now been discontinued :-(. I chose the light. Early in the day, the living room looks minty but in the late afternoon and evening, it takes on such a beautiful sagey depth. Good thing I have to work ALL DAY EVERY DAY! When it comes time to paint again, I will probably have more shades to choose from when we repaint. I was limited with the FreshAire, but oh, I loved that paint, no odor! I will go a bit darker. I actually started out wanting pale yellow cabs. I saw them at HD, not on display, but actually the Kitchen Dept.'s file cabs. That color was discontinued. Probably for the best as I have a tiny house and 4 out of the 5 rooms are painted the pale yellow and the LR is in the minty sage. Too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Right now I am leaning towards the sage . . . . decisions, decisions but these are the fun decisions. Boxer, thanks for all the wonderful inspiration pictures. Certainly a lot to consider but this is the FUN stuff! Amy1204, I get BHG but haven't had time to read my magazines. I have to check this out. I LOVE marble and my first hopes were for white inset, white farm sink and marble . . . I have a tiny kitchen so the inset was not a good choice due to storage issues and big $$$, not enough room for the farm sink since I wanted to add a DW and the marble but DH loves brillo when doing the pots and pans and his condiments so I can see a stain appearing almost immediately. I can't wait to see pictures of your kitchen - it's going to look so great with that combo!...See MoreWhite/white/white kitchen refresh FINISHED
Comments (85)Hi island. Our banquette was built (several years ago) by the same guy who did our cabinets. There is no back on it ... just loose pillows, which we sort of toss around depending on how many people are actually sitting on it. It does have storage. There are sliding doors on the long front of it (this is not easy storage to access but it's for the cookbooks I pull out once a year, etc.) and a "morgue" drawer that comes out from the end (where we keep all the dog leashes, collars, etc. Super handy storage!). I will take some measurements tonight or tomorrow for you, but I recall that the seat is about 19" tall after the cushion is on. I made the cushion extra thick, 4 inches, and raised it up a little because I prefer to sit a little higher at a table. The chairs came with the house and I sort of painted them on a whim. I used Annie Sloan's chalk paint, which was OK, although I'm not sure it was any better than any other kind of paint, other than not having to prime them first. They do seem to be wearing well though. Hope that helps for now. More to follow....See More95% Finished Off White Kitchen--Kind of Long
Comments (24)Katybuggs, dcclerk, maydl, thank you for your compliments. I have had a lot of compliments from people who have seen my kitchen for the first time, and especially from those who knew what it was like before. The best compliment I have had came earlier this week when a good friend saw it for the first time and she said "It is so functional." Besides wanting it to look good, I worked hard to make it functional for us. Katybuggs, The room size is 21 feet 3 inches by 13 feet 10 inches. This also includes the area where the table is and the wall with the two antique pieces. My long run of cabinets (which is the stove wall) is 14 feet long. Our old kitchen had a wall dividing the kitchen and what used to be the family room. We exended the cabinets and made a pennisula and, yes, it was always cluttered. We would come in and drop everything there. I am working hard not to do that with the island. So far I am very pleased with everything. I do not know of anything that I would change. If we still had children at home, I think the stainless steel appliances might be hard to keep, but since it is just DH and myself we are OK. dcclerk, My long distance KD was Lyndi Sheasley from Interior Ideas, Inc. in Bellevue, WA. I know other GW'ers have used her and I got her name from here. She was very good to work with and I felt no pressure from her. I was able to take her plans to cabinet shops and get quotes to compare prices. In a small town it is very easy to make someone mad/hurt feelings, ect. so I did not want to spend time to work up designs and then not use them. I need my backsplash and curtains to be completely finished, but I did finally bite the bullet and order the tiles for my backsplash. I hope I like them when they come in! I will post the finished product when completed. Thanks again, everyone, for the compliments!...See MorePainting Living, Dining, Den all BM Louisburg Green
Comments (10)I think my living room is painted in Manchester Tan but I'm not sure without going to the garage to look at the cans. My cousin has her house painted the same color with white woodwork in all the rooms. Her house is a small 2 bedroom, 1 bath row house with the smallest kitchen I've ever seen. She has lived there over 50 yrs. I think painting all the same color makes it look larger? She is an immaculate housekeeper, nothing is never out of place. Her Mother was the same way. I think they put up white wainscoat in the dining room. I think the same color throughout the house makes it look more uniform? I guess that is the word I'm looking for. I couldn't imagine it until I saw it and I love it. It's such a beautiful color and that white woodwork and white lace curtains just makes the colored walls pop. When we lived in our former homes, we always had a different color of carpet for each room. This house had all the same color throughout when it went on the market 7 yrs. ago. I can see now why my friend kept telling me all one color makes things look put together, not chopped up. I didn't understand her philosophy years ago but now I do and I love it and wouldn't have but one color ever....See Morestiley
