Our cabinets aren't sage green, but we have green uppers and cream lowers. We are very happy with them. Here's a link to my almost finished kitchen thread.

I couldn't make up my mind between a dark sage green and creamy white and when trying to decide, ended up with both :)

I have green, blue, and off-white:

I have Duron's 'Rugged Trail' on the uppers and will be repainting my lowers with its complementary 'Backpack', a darker gray/sage/green.

Colors are SO subjective!
Get your paint samples and paint big swatches on the walls, particularly where light changes.

I'm repainting my lowers because in natural light, they turn a turquoise-y color. ICK! Where the same color on the top remains a beautiful gray/green.

I admit to being very drawn to some of the yellow walls I see here on GW. If I can find one that doesn't turn my beloved gray/green something wildly different, I might do it. If not, I'm considering a complementary cream for the trim.

We debated for weeks over the wisdom of introducing green (moss) colored cabinets in our kitchen, knowing we did want our island to stand out as a distinct piece apart from the rest.

We're getting ready to install a moss green island with a white patterned quartz top (Lyra) with a light to medium stained perimeter cabinets with a darker top (Zirconium). We're going for a modern craftsman look. We think the green cabs will introduce just the perfect touch of warm and whimsy into a space that will have some modern touches (black aluminum backsplash tile).

When I opened the cab boxes and saw the two types next to each other, I immediately felt at peace with our choice. I'll post pics in a few weeks.

I took consolation in the fact that if I absolutely hated it, I could find a way to have them professionally repainted as nothing is permanent (just costly, which is another matter ... :)

I'm in the process of painting my cabinets Grassland by Sherwin Williams. I love the color so far (the kitchen isn't finished yet, so there's still time before the final verdict is in).

There was a better homes and garden article in the February issue (I couldn't find the pictures on their website) of a sage green kitchen done on a budget. This article was great because it showed exactly what I had envisioned for my own kitchen.

One of the reasons I chose green over white/cream cabinets is because I wanted a marble-look counter. I really like the combo of muted green cabinets and a white marble counter.

Farmhousebound, so unique and love the contrast. The open shelves are so attractive. We have a lot of pets and vacuum up a ton of hair every day so those would be a big no no for us but they look so nice in your kitchen.

Honeychurch, I am a def a green person but I love that blue cab! There is something so rich about that blue.

CEF, I know exactly what you mean. I begged DH to paint the living room. It was done in a pale blue by PO, nothing wrong with that, but I am a green person. Everyone said choose one shade lighter than what you want. I had a light sage to choose from and a really dark sage because I wanted to use the FreshAire paint which has now been discontinued :-(. I chose the light. Early in the day, the living room looks minty but in the late afternoon and evening, it takes on such a beautiful sagey depth. Good thing I have to work ALL DAY EVERY DAY! When it comes time to paint again, I will probably have more shades to choose from when we repaint. I was limited with the FreshAire, but oh, I loved that paint, no odor! I will go a bit darker. I actually started out wanting pale yellow cabs. I saw them at HD, not on display, but actually the Kitchen Dept.'s file cabs. That color was discontinued. Probably for the best as I have a tiny house and 4 out of the 5 rooms are painted the pale yellow and the LR is in the minty sage. Too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Right now I am leaning towards the sage . . . . decisions, decisions but these are the fun decisions.

Amy1204, I get BHG but haven't had time to read my magazines. I have to check this out. I LOVE marble and my first hopes were for white inset, white farm sink and marble . . . I have a tiny kitchen so the inset was not a good choice due to storage issues and big $$$, not enough room for the farm sink since I wanted to add a DW and the marble but DH loves brillo when doing the pots and pans and his condiments so I can see a stain appearing almost immediately. I can't wait to see pictures of your kitchen - it's going to look so great with that combo!

I wish the photo was better, but we just had a vanity painted in a really cool sage and I would LOVE it in a kitchen!!!

I ended up choosing Decora cabinets. My perimeter cabs are stained a medium light brown maple, but for my hood and island I chose their Angora color. It really is quite beautiful if you would like a greenish color that does not shout at you.

I have no advice for you, but I love the idea!

I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet, but I have a similar color scheme and decor style--not a 40's house but the style from that era, and white appliances. I went with green cabinets below (and one above stove) and white open shelves above. I ended up using SW 7742 agate green on the cabinets and also did a very light wash of brown glaze over it. The open upper shelves and bead board are BM cotton balls (don't remember the number.) I love this white so much I'm using it all over my house. Walls in k, lr, and dr are SW 6435 gratifying green. I also wanted to incorporate a pale yellow, so the walk in pantry, the island, and the entry way are SW jersey cream. None of these colors except the white are what I thought I wanted; I tried every vintagey green I could find but they always ended up too blue or dark or depressing when I tried samples, and jersey cream doesn't look all that yellow on the card. But I'm very happy with how things turned out. In all the painting I've done in the past I never really tried samples beforehand, but with green it was a must.

Soccermom04, thanks for all the details. I will check out these colors. Some may say I chickened out . . . my kitchen is very small and we are adding a lot of wall cabs so I went with the white cabs and will paints the walls the perfect shade of sage green when I find it. We were afraid since it is not an open room that all the cabs might be too much of a good thing.

Yes, Angie_DIY, I love the idea too but the room is very small and closed off. Since it's a buttery shade of yellow now with very light cabs and a light neutral tile, we though the green would be too much of a good thing and darken things up and I like light!

Mamma_dukes, the Decora display I saw had the most lovely dish closet reminiscent of my Grandmother's kitchen. I heard you can really customize those cabs . . but at a price!

Clueless, I love that color combo!

Ours really resembles Honeychurchs' as far as color, and we are using copper for the countertops.
But, isn't this more or less what "you" like?
So far, we like how our kitchen remodel is turning out. But, I'm sure there are lots of people that will think our finished product......needs to be re-modelled.
