I just moved into a new home I need living room decor ideas
Comments (5)I agree, there is not much to be said without more pictures, but looking at what we have, and not knowing the size of your starbust mirrors, I think you could hang them to the right of the TV to fill up approximately the shape I've indicated below. Second point, look for a striking rug that has a similarly natural, organic feel. It could continue your neutrals theme or introduce colour, but I'd definitely go for some kind of organic pattern -- not a geomatric design. I've just come across this one and I love it. https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-Knotted-Roth-Abstract-Pattern-Hemp-Rug-5-x-8/9912730/product.html?refccid=CPCHMYDRCEE2WRKCR4625KZO2Q&searchidx=337&keywords=&refinement=material%3ANatural%20Fiber...See MoreLiving Room/Dining Room Ideas Needed!
Comments (4)J Castellanos - Sorry, you didn't deserve that in your thread. It's just that these Houzz "pros" are supposed to know not to pop into a thread with the sole intent of advertising their own products, and that is what the aforementioned "pro" does repeatedly. It's tiresome. Now, regarding your decorating issues ... What is on the wall across from the sectional? I see you've got your TV and console set up on the one wall, but wonder if you could move to the wall opposite the sofa and then "flip" the sofa around so that it's open to the fireplace? As it is now, it doesn't look like the fireplace gets much enjoyment by those seated on the sectional. I'm thinking that if you could rearrange things a bit, you might have space for a desk behind the sofa on the wall where the TV is now. I would not move the dining set into the living room, as that will cramp the space....See MoreWant a modern living room, dining room; layout ideas needed
Comments (27)Agree with lynartist get someone knowledgeable in to look at the walls. Shifting the color used makes a huge difference. I would not have the walls smoothed or made shiny. But there are all sorts of ways to approach this and end up with a great looking home. Consider moving the functions of the two spaces. A modern dining area with a fireplace, even such an ornate one, could be spectacular and marry well with a more intimate USED space for conversations, drinks, and even just solo book readin'! Making the switch would also de-emphasize the fireplace and allow it to look its very best. A bit of a paradox but look at many old European houses and you'll see it again and again. My other preference would be to have a wood refinisher take down the shine on the floor. Congratulations and I hope you let us know how this progresses....See MoreNeed living room design ideas
Comments (2)I really dislike sectionals for seating , IMO the most expensive way to get the largest number of uncomfortable seats. I think to add seating in your space woudl be best with just adding chairs maybe 4 . You seem to have a lot of wasted sopace like in front of the windows for instance and since thta is not a patio door why the huge walkway behind the sofa . I would put 2 chairs on the wall where the window is and a table witha lamp, move the sofa back and add 2 more chairs in the space that will be created on the right of the wall unit when uou move the sofa back then when you have ac rowd pull the 2 chairs in from the window and the rest of the time those 2 chairs are a nuce space for an afternoon read or with a friend for a glass of wine . Take that little console table a awy add a long shallow one and a huge piece of art above it . A bigger rug to now fill thta space you will create with moving the sofa. Some solar shades on that window so you can keep the view and add nice full drapes for nightime to cozy up the space ....See Moreeverdebz
