Wood laminate or engineered hardwood quandary. Advice/ experience need

I am struggling with what to place on our basement floor. New higher-end home. Now completing walkout, 2 BR basement with moisture barrier placed under slab. People keep saying certain floors are better if the basement floods but, quite frankly, if that happens it is likely everything would need replacing, anyway, so trying to decide what I will like to "live with" regarding feel and look.

No dogs, retired couple, little concern over floor abuse.

I am not crazy about LVP as do not like repeats, thinness, etc. I have looked at the newer 12 mm laminate flooring and think that might work but all laminate wood I have walked over has that "floating" sound/ feel. I also like the thickness and feel/ look of engineered hardwood which is designed to 'somewhat' live with moisture (how it is constructed).

Has anyone used the 12mm laminate wood - what we are considering is Shaw Cascade classic.

What are thoughts about Engineered Hardwood?

Any insight will b greatly appreciated.
