what color should I paint the walls in my new kitchen?
Comments (5)Aha we must have posted at the same time. I’d test a few colors on the walls, but if you want a nice light gray that has no undertones I can recommend Classic Gray by Benjamin Moore. I tried about 10 grays and that one was perfect for a cool toned kitchen....See MoreHelp! What color should I paint this fireplace? Walls will be ivory.
Comments (26)If we could see your furniture and your style, we could make better recommendations. The wide fireplace would be perfect with MCM or modern style. furnishings. But you may be more transitional or farmhouse or another style. You have the good fortune that you can place the 2 focal points, fireplace and TV, right side by side, with the TV over a low cabinet on the hearth. That makes good functional use of the hearth area, so you don't need to think about removing it. Floor matching would need to be attempted if you remove the hearth, so not easy....See MoreWhat color rug, paint, and wood floors should I use? All walnut wood.
Comments (52)You've got some nice wood pieces. Did your father make most all of them? Regarding the paint color. I always feel paint color should be decided once everything is selected. I'm guessing that the Builder has a couple of paint selections that were chosen to go with the finishes that are being offered so if I were you at this point I would make notes as you are doing but wait to see what you select for the other finishes and then see if the Builder's paint colors will work for you. If none of them do, at that point you can determine if you are going to "up-grade" (he may not even offer the opportunity for you to stray from the color choices) or just paint the walls a non-descriptive color and have them painted later with your own painter. Comments (22)I think that painting the ceiling planks white is perfect for your beachhouse, it just needs to be accessorized correctly so that it doesn't look too white and gray (see illustrations below). For the walls, I suggest a light greige, BM Balboa Mist, that mixes well with white, gray, and wood. Or a neutral gray such as BM Gray Owl. Any paint you choose I highly recomment that you paint a large cardboard (available at Dollar stores) with 2 coats of paint (samples available at paint stores) and walk around the room to see the colour in different lights. For your corner fireplace, it looks like something black on the floor under the fireplace, not sure what it is but I would do a black porcelain tile under and on the sides of the base. You can also replace the spotlight on the ceiling by a more modern black one, Amazon has nice ones around $40. Have fun with your project!...See MoreTammy G
