Design Dilemma living room

Game room design question

We are trying to configure our game room and it seems the TV will likely have to be placed in front of large floor to ceiling windows. I don't anticipate having a large entertainment center, maybe just a TV - does anyone have any tips of the placement to maximize the view and keep entertainment footprint to a minimum?

pictures and floorplan showing doors windows and dimensions will get you the best answers. in front of a window is usaully a last resort. ideally you can have a view of the tv and the outdoors. think about glare. I would use blackout curtains behind the tv if it has to go in front of a window. tv just on a cosole that is wider than your tv. think about the first picture with curtains insead of a wall

You could do a pull down screen with a projector on the opposite wall, they have very good picture quality now -

or a TV lift console where the TV sits down in a cabinet unless you are watching

But a lot depends ln whether you

will you be watching during the day (football) or mainly at night?

i would get the (high end) TV/electronics store in your town to come in for a consult, they will likely have some great ideas

Thanks for replying. That is one nice basement! My ambitions are a lot lower. I have to cover the foam wall insulation I'm putting up with drywall, so I figure, what the heck, I'll try to make it a little nicer; maybe exercise stuff, workbench. I'm not really sure, so I guess I should think more about it. I'm not going to get fancy with lighting though or add plumbing (maybe some heat via an added hot water loop since there is already an extra takeoff on the manifold). Space is tighter for me, ~ 33 X 33, with stairs (no-landing) in the middle. Naturally, the boiler stuff is on one wall, the water softener on another and the drain pipes on yet another. So, I'll try to maximize what I have I guess. I like the bookcase idea. It provides a wide opening for access, yet is useful for storage.

How about instead of having the picture of the birch trees you do a wall paper of a forest with a bit more moody of a woods look. How are you going to light the room? Is the room exactly like the picture you show so that the 36" sink pretty much fills up the space and the toilet is opposite? With 8' ceilings 28" tall doesn't seem like it's going to be too high, but if you were going to put a fixture over the mirror you need to know what kind of fixture. As is shown in your inspiration picture, if you only have 4" of space on either side of the mirror you don't really have room for sconces, but you can do something similar to what is shown and hang them from the perpendicular walls. It's also possible to light a small powder room with an overhead fixture. Usually people aren't shaving or applying make-up in a powder room when you would want better lighting. Here are some pictures of different mirror shapes. If you don't like wallpaper, overlook it. :-)
