So we are having a home built and I intend on putting my "office" in the basement. basically I have a gaming desktop computer but would ultimately like to have an area for a small guitar amp, as well as my 3 guitars. I would also like to add a work space/ work bench area and maybe a TV to play some Xbox. I have no idea how to lay this all out and I am looking for any tips that any of you may have. The double doors are the entrance, the other doorway is a closet. There are no full size windows, only 2 small basement windows. I have no furniture other than an L shaped desk that a may or may not even keep. Am I trying to do too much with this space? Is this even the right forum to ask this type of question? Thank you!

Based on your inputs and review with the teens, the prelim plan is: walls bright white or soft grey with white trim and window blinds; wall-mounted shelving on the wall at the far end of the room for storing games, controllers, computers. LED screens for tv and computer will go HIGH on the end wall with the window while the dart board will be mounted on the opposite end wall (where the door is) with additional shelving for board games, model airplanes and the odd Lego space craft. Further thoughts on wall murals appreciated!

Thanks. The counter will be 24inch, the door way is 5ft, so should have enough room and we may not have the counter run the full length of wall. It will mostly be household mgmt, the office will be open and double use but I picture the "office" space to end where the bathroom wall ends. The counter space is really just for putting food / drinks on when we have ppl over either in the gameroom or the roofdeck. There will also be a sink and fridge built in there

I need to understand the issue of the budget you are working with and what you need in your office. IMO those shelves in that space are just not good at all so I would remove those to start put your crafring stuff in a claset not the DR then If you have liked your desk facing a window why not just leave it there and IMO ther eis not enough space for both these functions so either store the dining set until you get a bigger space or use the dining table for a desk put the chirs awy and get a nice buffet for all the office stuff staired out od sight then all you need to do is out the lap top away when you want to have dinner guests I have that size DR and there is no way I could put a desk like you plan and keep my table
