First fruit set and minor problem with Green Doctors
Comments (4)I occasionally have this unexplained random branch wilting happen with a few plants each year (and no, I don't have any fungal or bacterial wilts in my soil.) Not much, maybe just 1-5 plants or so out of 150-200, and it is usually very minor. I mostly see this when plants are young (almost never when they are mature), and especially when there are extreme swings in temp and sunlight, which I get a lot here in the spring. My "theory" is that part of it might have to do with root development not quite perfectly keeping up and efficiently dealing with locating water to all of the quickly emerging top growth. Yep, usually minor - as others said. Just let clip the wilt off or let it just be, whichever. Btw, whatever you do, don't be tempted to give any plants that do this water when they don't need it in an attempt to baby them. Might do more harm than good. The major problem with GD comes later. ;) I know you don't like most greens, and I don't either, but I found GD tastes pretty good when almost dry farmed and/or planted in a 'neglected' area that doesn't get the usual regular watering with your soaker hoses (little/no supplemental water unless the plant actually starts to wilt) and also best grown in really good sun and heat. IOW, not a good choice for me here for fall crop, tends to lean more towards insipid/funky, I found. Ah, well - you still may not like it even then, but growing it like that improved the taste immensely for me....See MoreDoctor's Office, SS# vent
Comments (24)A few years ago I went in for a colonoscopy. I was in a lot of pain and the girl taking the info. out of the clear blue sky asked me what bank I used. Yes, a red flag did go up...but I was in pain....and thankgoodness did not give her the correct bank. Gave her one with mortgages. Sure enough, identity theft. They used my name and address to try and break into this bank. Did it all on the computer. The bank just sent us a letter stating the change in the pin number had been changed. This was the day before Thanksgiving. We called the bank and told them this was fraud. They have the nerve to tell us that they didn't know if we were really were who we said we were and had to be at the bank the first thing in the morning after the holiday to cancel this account. I was furious. I now go to the sheriff's department. Couldn't even go up to see him...just talked on the phone down stairs. He said, (I quote) do you know how many people we have working on identiy theft???? I said. NO...He says "Your talking to him". Can you believe this. Well, we stopped the theft and since a crime was not committed, they could do nothing about it. Plus, we don't know what computer she used to do this. Think about this. She did everything from a name, address, and bank. I could not tell the doctor about this because if I identified her, I could be sued since I would be accusing her of a crime. I should have sent a letter without identifying myself but didn't. I'm disgusted with myself I didn't. I was stupid and pain or no pain I did not use my head!!!! But I never never never give out my social. Also, why do Doctor's offices need to know where you were born. My theft was just giving an address and a bank. Think what they can do with your address, age, date of birth and where you were born. I'm saying this because tomorrow I'm going to a new doctor and they have already asked where I was born on the phone. I stopped the conversation before they were completed. We are being paranoid, but I've had this theft twice now. The first time was my credit card. You are not safe in a doctor's office. You really don't know who these people are you're giving this info to. Give as little as possible. 's...See MoreFree 6-Piece Christening Set Pattern

Comments (8)I won't comment about the fibroids and enlargement of your uterus, but I've been an ENT nurse for 22 years and I urge you to seek a 2nd opinion prior to having surgery on your sinuses. Have you had a CT of the sinus yet? or at least a limited CT or a sinus series? There is no way (no matter what any doctor may tell you) to tell if it is your sinuses without one of these studies. The CT is the best. There are many ENT specialists who jump the gun, performing sinus surgery that isn't needed. It's fast and easy money for them, and many of them take advantage of their patient's "ignorance" of his/her sinuses. I do not mean ignorance in any sort of demeaning way, but we are all ignorant at some point about certain areas until we are educated about them. So, ask questions, get studies, and don't let someone start "reaming" out your sinuses at the drop of a hat. We have a friend who had sinus surgery with a clear sinus x-ray (he found out later) and he was left with meningitis after the surgeon knicked his brain case and he developed a cerebral spinal fluid leak. He is now deaf in his right ear and suffered from vertigo for 7 years until another ENT surgeon finally had to cut his nerve of hearing to control it (and this, I might add, doesn't always work). He suffered with this for 7 years because the 2nd surgeon waited until the statute of limitations was up for a law suit from the first surgery. They do stick together most of the time.
