Just had the Covid test and now.....
Comments (55)Jane, you can believe whatever you wish. And as to your "C" word, you may have missed what i earlier observed. (And what Gamble notes in his "intro to freedom portal". I.E. that labelling people with the "C" word is by now known to effectively shut further dialog. arcy_gw, re: your neighbor, I know what works for me to mitigate flu - and btw, i suspect that Covid and Flu are mutually exclusive, but that's beyond the scope of this response. I really don't wish to delve into it here. ...Anyway, you're welcome to tell your flu-recovered neighbor that what works for me is multi-pronged, and yes, it truly works for me approx. 95% successfully. Covering forced-air vents in favor of oil-radiator using G-Midifier & smearing tiger-balm at temples minimizing EMFs & stress. prescription Gabapentin a high-lysine diet starch, such as unsalted saltines, toast, French Toast avoiding hot spices, not excluding raw onions/garlic minimizing dehydrating sodium minimizing citrus (unless as in honey-lemon tea) see: https://www.drinkfiltered.com/posts/is-orange-juice-good-for-a-cold-and-sore-throat increasing hydrating, creamy sweets (i.e. mint-patties, waxy-organic honey etc. eating probiotic and creamy yogurts, Tofutti, Mayo, etc. eating cooling kirbies, veggies, herbals etc. ...It's the process of logical deduction. I.E. when people have pneumonia (which often starts with flu), they're given "thickeners" to make mucus less mercurial. So it stands to reason that a "thickening" diet, is what helps flu. I personally find that both Gabapentin and high-lysine diet, tend to thicken (i.e. tame) my mucus, which becomes "mercurial" during flu. As part of the high-lysine diet, i also minimize hot spices, and sodium, since that's dehydrating. Instead, i increase gooey, creamy, sweets. Such as chocolate which is recommended for sore throats https://www.creativehealthyfamily.com/chocolate-is-the-best-natural-cure-for-your-sore-throat/ Especially good for me personally is milk-chocolate plus thin-mints, since those are "cooling creaminess" Also great is French Toast (which is 3-in-1 by dint of combining "thickening" starch PLUS xylitol PLUS high-lysine eggs. Also great is: Celestial Cherry Berry Tea with waxy-organic honey Bigelow French Vanilla Tea with liquid stevia Bigelow Jasmine Tea ditto Stash Licorice Tea...See MoreIt wasn't easy to get a Covid test this week.
Comments (16)https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/testing-plans/index.html In early April, governors in each state designated teams to develop testing plans, working with subject matter experts from HHS and FEMA. On May 30, these teams submitted their May-June plans. On July 10, the teams submitted their July-December plans. Both plans are available to view on this page. The testing SNAFU's that we are encountering is entirely on the state where you reside. This is a state level problem. It is unrealistic to think that the federal government can coordinate testing for every county, town, village, city in the whole of this vast country. This is why we have state & county health departments. Clearly, some states were not/ are not up to the task. When my son tested positive for Covid back in September, it took 5 days for him to get his results back. After his positive test, I called the only place in town (pop. approx. 60,000) that was doing tests, a local hospital, to arrange for my husband & I to be tested. I was told that a nurse had to call back to set up the test. I'm still waiting for that call, still waiting to get that test. Little wonder that Covid started raging out of control here in WI when you have to wait 5 days for results and that is IF you could manage to get tested. And this was a whole 5 months into the pandemic--late September--not March or April when you would expect things to not run smoothly. Five months in, the state should have had its act together but clearly did not....See MoreI learned this about Covid home tests
Comments (17)I find the bubonic plague theory interesting. My older brother got bubonic plague in Vietnam. He lives in a very open part of our state. Never put on a mask, no vaccines and went on with his life as usual. As far as we know he never got Covid nor any of its variants. I believe I probably had Covid before it hit the news. At the end of 2019 through the beginning of 2020 I was having issues with fatigue, mild bouts of fever similar to hot flashes and a dry, harsh, continuous cough that lasted over 2 months. Got the variant couple of months ago. Felt completely out of it for 24 hours (sore throat and fever), then felt better but lost all my appetite for several days. Building my strength back from not eating was my biggest hurdle. Was back to normal activity in 5 days. DH had the first two shots. He tested positive a few days after I was ill. I never bothered to test at all. Why test for the obvious? His symptoms were similar to mine except he always still eats when he gets sick and my appetite is the first to go whenever I fight anything viral. I guess my immune system really kicks up the cytokines....See MoreFall 2023 free Covid tests
Comments (6)They became available no fee again on 9-25. I ordered ours, and ordered for my sister then warned her I'd sent for her tests without asking 😘 I have some, but I need to check box numbers and see which fall where in the extended 'use-by' date printed on them. It's going to be an exercise of several minutes and I haven't gotten to it yet. There may be some in the linen closet to toss. I used the first test in a while last week. DH very much wanted to go to the memorial lunch of a childhood friend and I wasn't really at my best the day before. He asked me to test just in case and I did - negative. I almost wished we could have skipped that lunch. The weather was wet so doors were closed, it was heavily attended and felt much too crowded. I think it must have been the most densely populated room we've been in since Covid began, and I hope not to have to do that again any time soon. We're on day 5 of our countdown and no symptoms aches or pains today so maybe we were lucky....See More- 4 years ago
