A new stand mixer, a heated throw and a bluetooth headset for the TV. Nice toys, I am enjoying them all.

Present to myself, i picked up a small Instant Pot at the thrift store. I may have to look into that book. So far I've made curry, yogurt and have chili on the slow cooker setting now.

Mrs. Claus (me) got us an air fryer, and several cookbooks. We have yet to use it, but it is unpacked and out of the box. We bought a bag of frozen sweet potato fries to inaugurate it. I'm psyched to roast Brussels sprouts...

I also got a new air fryer so I will take my old one to the lake house. My favorite gift is a lithium battery powered Milwaukee air pump

My only toy is a Revlon Blow Dryer brush. I love that thing. I can get my hair looking presentable in less than five minutes.

I wonder which is more useful, an air fryer or an instant pot.

Wasn't a Christmas gift but just I bought myself a 4 at. Staub brand Dutch oven. I watch a lot of America's test kitchen shows and they are always making recipes that start on the stove top then finish in the oven. 4 qts is big enough for just 2 people.

I did cook chili in it yesterday and it worked beautifully.

Dedtired, I think it depends so much on the individual using them. Instant Pots save time, while air fryers save on fat consumption and calories. From what I've read, air fryers aren't really time-savers most of the time. For someone like me, who needs to limit fat consumption for a couple of reasons, I might put mine to use more often than my Instant Pot, since I'm home and cooking for myself, and have no particular need to save time in the kitchen. But we shall see.

This is the first time in a long time that I did not buy me something from Etsy for Christmas. However, I do plan on paying off my car next month! That car payment can go back into the savings account where it belongs.

I bought myself an electric paint sprayer, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet. I plan to give it a test run when I go back to Cathedral City in February. The instructions say that it requires a lot of practice before one should attempt an actual project. Still, it will be cheaper than hiring someone to do the painting for me, and it's difficult to find anyone to do jobs like this at this time. I plan to paint my kitchen cabinets after stripping them (That I know how to do.), but ideally I would replace all of them. I think I am going to have to keep the uppers and the pantry, but I have to replace the lowers, due to damage from a leak under the sink.

We want to get new countertops as soon as possible, but I have not been able to get anyone to quote on doing this - they were all booked up for months. I"ll try again in February to get a quote.

We've been using the new 2qt air fryer. Twin size plush throw, big enough for two to take a nap under! ♥

Lars....Did you get the Wagner paint sprayer you dangle the end in the paint bucket? I had one & it clogged after I got half a door painted. The ones that use a compressor have more staying power.

Alisande, thanks thanks. I am such a lazy cook so I prefer things that make process easier. I do use my slow cooker sometimes since i can mostly dump things in there then have a meal waiting. Im just not willing to give counter space to appliances.

Our family doesn't really exchange gifts, but I did get a mushroom growing kit, and so far it's coming along nicely.

A friend of mine got me a grow light set up. I still haven't opened it. Since my 3rd grow light shelf can't be used, I'll put it on top of the two that are together. Someday.

I am going to try to have someone help me with this. A friend from San Francisco said that he wants to visit me and would help, as he has had experience with this type of painting.

I plan to test it on the cabinet doors first, which I will remove and strip. I do not think I will use this for the cabinet boxes, unless I find that I can control the overspray well enough.

I got a new Lenovo tablet and cover which I have been really enjoying. I got a new larger crock pot. I already have 2 air fryers. We really don't do Christmas presents, we just get whatever we want. We are going to get a new mattress but haven't made it to the store yet. I also got my new power chair.

Got a robot vac. Didn't think I needed it, but I LOVE it. With a little white dog, there was always dog hair on hardwoods. I only have one area rug. But it does such a great job! And gets all those dust bunnies.

Bored Housewife, that's so disappointing. If previous Christmases were quite different, I wonder if this is pandemic related--yet another manifestation of the ennui (or worse) so many are feeling after almost two years in its clutches. Adding my hug to Roxanna's.

Bored, I wouldn't talk to any of them. Boy, that would have really upset me and I think you should tell them! I wouldn't let it go and would make it clear they can make their own dinners and wash their own clothes.

Things similar to that have happened to me in the past. You need to speak up and not let it go.
