You could do a short splash up to the sill and then short splashes on the side. Blanket statements with no context are just blanket statements. I would want a sidesplash there because of the sink.

I am not certain you need a backsplash anywhere in this area unless the sink is going to be used heavily…

It cut off my post and can’t figure out how to edit on my phone…last sentence should say “I also think it looks awkward with the side splash”.

Yes a splash the height of the sill in the counter material all around for balance. No need to go so high.

How crazy do people go with water and a faucet? It leaves a lot to be imagined. I don't think you need a backsplash there at all. The tile industrial complex has convinced us that every surface needs one and I don't quite understand why.

Understand on dog bowl, but that is generally a splash minimal experience….or not. Other option could be a small standard 4” backsplash on back wall, but that might feel like whole wall runs together.

I imagine you are also replacing the sink and faucet. One thing to consider is making sure you have a good deep bar sink and have a bar sink faucet with pull out nozzle to minimize splash. We just did that in our base and did not install a backsplash.

You can always add a backsplash later if you find you really need it.

I think if you just tile to the sill,thats the way to go. As a bonus, because its such a small area, you can use a really cute tile as an accent. lol @Kendrah, - tile industrial complex aka ”Big Tile” they get us hooked.

What does it look like in the room? Could we see a picture from farther back? Right now it looks like a bathroom vanity...I would be looking for ideas to minimize that. Perhaps that's what the no back splash look would help with?

Looks like somewhat of bar serving area, maybe consider adding a chiller fridge in place of a cabinet. If you decide to do a splash the height of the sill, see if they can get it in a thinner version same as countertop material, I despise these chunky looking side splashes, lol.

@arcy_gw- The photo shows the whole room. I stood in the laundry room to take the photo. It’s just three lower cabinets and a bar sink off the kitchen. I use it for serving food like a buffet area when I have company. I think I like the no backsplash at all idea. I’ll get a deeper sink and we’ll see how it goes. We have a similar bar/sink area upstairs with no backsplash. I’ll just have to get the walls repaired when we remove it.
