Flowerlillies: I have seen this before. It appears to be scale. Get several Q-tips and a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol. Pour some of the alcohol into the cap of the bottle. Dip the Q-tip into the alcohol. Now, wherever you see those white, powdery patches on the leaves and stems of your plants, rub the Q-tip on them. Make sure all the white patches are dabbed well. If you've already done this and still need help, you will not like my next suggestion. You most likely have them on the roots of your plants which is why you are seeing deformity. They are literally, slowly, eating the plants alive. What I have done in the past is re-plant any and all plants in the affected plants vicinity. I took no chances. I know this is a pain and labor intensive but being on a balcony actually makes this easier to do. If you have a lot of container plants, work them in batches. Unplant 3 or 4 of them. Make sure to do it over a box or trash bag to catch any of the possibly infected soil. get another plastic bag and gently wrap the roots of the plant and carry it over to the sink or bathtub. Submerge the entire plant in luke warm water with a mild dish detergent. Use just a capful of detergent. Dunk the entire plant, count to ten then do it again. Do this with the rest of your plants, again, working in batches of 3 or 4 if you have many. Before you re-plant make sure you use fresh, new soil. Discard any old soil you've had. There is obviously something in there that is attractive to this pest. Also, what I do is take the soil in batches inside a large plastic container and Nuke it in the microwave for at least 1 minute. This will kill nearly anything such as larvae living in the soil. When the soil has come back to a normal temperature, I mix in my fertilizer, perlite and any other additive. But, more importantly, I spray the soil with Neem Oil. Spray liberally and mix it into the new soil. Make sure to wash your containers in hot soapy water. Now you can re-plant. I would spray the plants with Neem oil at least every 7-10 days. Once this infestation is over with, I would still as a preventive measure spray them once a month and lightly spray the top part of the soil as well. Hope this helps, best of luck- NJC

Can we see the fireplace wall? I can help you with the track lighting. The first question I have is, is it on a dimmer? The second question is have you ever changed any of the light bulbs? Those look to be either MR16 or GU10 base, Im guessing GU base because I dont see a transformer on the fixture, (they have knoby prongs). The first thing you could do is install a dimmer, second lower the wattage, 3rd adjust the beam spread. Pendant lights would only look well if they actually could drop over something, like an end table, otherwise they will float around. As a side not almost any pendant can be converted to hang off track, as long as its not heavy. Another thing you could do is change the track to stainless steel, or to even a modern rail light system, or something else with adjustable heads. You could also install shallow housing recessed cans if room in the ceiling permits. The art wall is coming along but you need to either move or add a larger frame to the outside edge, and possible add a bit more to it. as it stands its not centered to the sofa. So it needs to be centered to the wall. Replace that tiny table thing, with a sofa table behind the couch and put the computer on that with a chair, or put an actual desk behind the sofa. with lamp to make it well, make sense or get an actual little desk back there. Add a floor reading lamp and a table lamp to sofa table. this gives you layers of light so you dont have to turn the track on all the time.

we did give you great ideas. you chose to get mad and say we aren't helping you with what you have. You're the one who wrote and said 'it wasn't working". and "you can't figure out how to make the furniture work". Correct? Why is that? because the furniture is too big for that small room and the way you have arranged is not the best layout. That's it. you can attack us and pout for pointing out the obvious, but it's not going to change the fact that your two sofas are too large. no one said anything about having a 'showroom' living room. we were trying to point out what the best solution for your small room would be. (and patricia pointed out a possible fire hazard, and you got upset about that too). That being said, you can either keep your two sofas where they are, or flip them and put them on the other wall.Those are the two choices. Pick one. But don't put us down for trying to help you understand that fitting a square peg in a round hole doesn't work. fpmac,,,,seriously? attacked? nasty? show me where.
