Design Dilemma Bathrooms Remodeling

We are adding in a master Suite to an existing patio. our bathroom layout is my dilema. It currently is set to be a 6 wide by 9 ft 11 inches long. The length cannot change but I could grow the width by one foot making it 7 ft wide.

I only want one sink but need space on the counter to do makeup but i feel that the vanity counter is going to be too small. My husband suggested putting another counter on the opposit wall for me to do makeup.

We are thinking 4x6 shower.

Ive never designed a bathroom before so i could use some help.

A scaled floor plan with all dimensions filled in would be a good place to start.

What he said, or do a hand sketch showing window and door locations with dimensions, without it, your guess is as good as ours.

What is the purpose of the "vanity desk?" Does someone like to sit down to shave or apply makeup/do hair? Seems like wasted space when you have a large two-sink vanity already. You could put a linen closet in, instead, which will give you more storage if you don't need or want a huge shower. In the plan(s) further above, with the shower taking up that entire wall, you have *plenty* of room to get out of the shower, towel off and get undressed and dressed. Floor space, a space to hang a towel and lay or hang clothing is all you need - you don't need designated shower-prep-only space.

You can get shower glass with the handles that double as towel racks, or add just the handles to the glass. Or just go with Mark's idea. His ideas are usually the best solution -- no sarcasm included.

Thanks, Patricia. A few reasons for moving the laundry room; first, the majority of the laundry is coming from/lives upstairs so we prefer to not have to haul the laundry up and down stairs to wash then put away (our previous home had laundry on the floor with the bedrooms and we loved it). Second, the current laundry space is pretty sub-optimal taking over the only entrance to the house from the garage and more than anything we need that space for a mudroom/storage. We only need two bedrooms upstair max which is why we're comfortable losing one to become some laundry/bathroom configuration.

Without seeing a floor plan I'm not sure what you're thinking of, but you may not have room for two vanities across from each other if they're going to be on the long wall. They will take up two feet each. If the total width is 7 feet, that leaves you with a 36" walkway which is a minimum. If two people are standing at each vanity at the same time you will be bumping into each other. Also, when you say 7 feet, is that inside the walls width, or is that going to shrink once the drywall is up?
