Powder rooom renovation

Hello, We are now starting a powder room renovation. I am attaching a picture of current bathroom and wondering if anyone has any idea for a different layout, or pictures of a bathroom using this current layout but more modern, but simple

Just getting back to this.

I will not be moving my plumbing so this is the layout.

A suggestion that was made that we are considering is that on the left side of the vanity put a built in floor to ceiling cabinet. And make the whole cabinet less deep. My husband feels like it will look like a hotel (which I like). I am attaching a picture of the idea without the toilet.

Any new thoughts?

Doesn’t look like toilet is facing door - it’s to left of door & vanity is what one sees if door open. Right @sistertamala ? I think the current arrangement is the best. If this powder room is near the kitchen, which looks great BTW! - why not copy or use same finishes. If you do want dark cabinet, get the same style for new. Use stainless finish for mirror frame & faucet, same tile for a 6” back splash on back wall only, same counter, white sink & lights that use same kind of glass as your pendents.

I know it would cost more, but I would look into moving the toilet to the left of the vanity and use a 30 inch vanity. That would leave 33 inches of space for the toilet.

You might be able to leave the toilet where it is and put the vanity to the right of the toilet on the same wall. You need a minimum of 15 inches from the center of the toilet to the vanity. That space will determine the size of your vanity, which might be less than 30 inches.

Hmm.... i wonder if I could do that but also put a ceiling to floor thin (not deep I mean) cabinet beside the toilet for extra storage?

Pardon my ignorance, how do you intend using the area above the kitchen on the front side of the house? Could that be used as the dining room? It wouldn't get the powder room any further from the kitchen, but the pr would no longer be opening out of the dining room, nor would the mudroom.

Not sure, but first impression is that stair balusters are too far apart to meet code. Check into that. Where are all the step-downs? I see one from foyer to living room. Is there another from kitchen to family room? I would use the living room as the family room, dining and "west" 1/3 of kitchen as new kitchen, family and 2/3 of kitchen as new master suite. Direct traffic from garage into library which becomes mudroom/laundry.

I don't see how that would fit. If you put a tall cabinet between the toilet and vanity, you would have not enough space for the vanity. 30 for toilet, 24 for sink would leave 9 inches for tall cabinet.

If you really need storage in your powder room, you should keep the existing layout. Use a rounded toilet to give you space and perhaps keep the vanity on the shallow side. 18 to 19 inches deep.

I don't like the toilet facing the door, and you don't need much counter space for a powder room, so try to move the toilet left of the vanity.

I like your white and blue idea... crisp clean white walls and vanity cabinet. Blue tile flooring. you could use the subway tile on the walls and a similar blue in a hex tile for the floor. Fresh!

I think the current layout is awkward in that you walk right into the toilet practically as you enter the room. If you can, I would put it to the left of the vanity and have a shorter vanity. Do you need the cabinet space or can you down size it?

Your kitchen is lovely and I like the colors. However, I appreciate it when there is a distinct difference between a powder room and the rooms surrounding it. It lends a greater feeling of privacy, which I think is desirable. I would go very dark on the walls and walnut on the vanity. It will still feel relatable to the kitchen but quite separate.
