I love the mirror. You can't go wrong with an arch top bevelled mirror, especially paired with a china pedestal sink. I love the sink. I'd put money into high quality, pretty faucet, but I'm sure you are going to. Unlike the others, I'm not loving the pendants. It's just me, I guess. But they seem a bit of that rustic style that is so popular these days (altho the rustic is usually bronze), with metal guards around it. A bit bulky looking for the delicate looking china sink and arched mirror. But maybe they look more delicate in person. I'd never thought about it before, but what I notice when I walk into a new bathroom is the sink/vanity and faucet first, the mirror (if it's eye catching; otherwise, I don't notice it, I think). Then I notice the lights, I think. A toilet is a toilet, unless there's something noticeable about it, which usually there is not.

ladycfp, I'm too much of a realist to think that way, but you may be right! muscat, the second guy is the son of a friend of mine. The father isn't in the contracting business but both father and son are intelligent, exacting men who make sure whatever they do is done correctly as it has their "signature" on it. I've seen the son's work several times and it's not just good, it's excellent. He tends to do higher end homes so I never considered him to begin with. If I'd known about him and his price from the beginning I would've gone with him. All that being said, I think we'll stick with the original guys. I'll call again tomorrow and clarify that we're definitely on in 9 days. Any hesitation on their part and we'll switch to the other fellow.

Palimpsest, as a matter of fact, I was indeed imagining some very small floating shelves a few inches deep, so very subtle, but just enough to draw attention to a different focus, just enough room for something like a little vase of dried flowers or tiny succulent. I'm definitely not talking utilitarian storage shelving. At the end of the day though, even as a huge fan of symmetry, I'm not terribly bothered by the window being off center in a powder room. It'd be fine if OP did nothing, just suggested the corner shelving because it'd be a very easy and inexpensive way to do SOMETHING about it.

Along the lines of the comment above mine, I was going to suggest that, if you are using paneled wainscotting, that you put recessed shelves behind one or two of the wainscotting panels across from the toilet and have hidden hinges and a pop-out-when-you-push-in system for opening the wainscotting to reveal hidden storage. It can be recessed into the wall cavity if you do not have room to bump out the wall in the next room. That will hold regular rolls of TP, bottles of cleaner, the brush for the toilet (hang it on a hook and put a plastic tray under to catch drips), and stacks of folded washcloths and hand towels. Be sure to have the other wainscotting panels milled just a bit thicker to match up to the extra depth that the hidden doors hang.
