Storage solutions for Powder Room?

This is my inspiration for a Powder Room renovation. I am particularly drawn to the sink with exposed plumbing. However I would like some storage for toilet paper, cleaning supplies etc. Is there a way to incorporate storage stylishly in another area or am I limited to a bulkier vanity? Room is approx. 9 x 5 with sink toilet on left side of the longer wall. TIA For any advice you can share.

Can you post a drawing of the bathroom layout? 9x5 sounds big for a powder room - I'd think you should have plenty of space for storage. My master bath (with alcove tub/shower combo) is 11x5.

That does sound large for a powder room. Love the sink. You should have a place for a small cabinet with those dimensions, either wall mounted or on the floor. Preferably with doors. Needs in a powder room aren't space hogs, but I like a minimum of cleaning supplies in mine (something for mirror, sink, toilet), additional TP, a few sundry things that a guest might want and wouldn't have to ask for. (dental floss, tylenol, an antacid ;0), bandaid). Waste basket.

Thanks Metaphysician. If you get some and use them I hope you'll tell us how you use them. Mustangs, thanks for sharing that. I need my pills to tell me what day so I don't forget. But that looks like it would be cool for nuts and bolts too. You can't beat the price! For this application I needed something that would pour, or sprinkle. I like these magnetic containers so much I'm eager to hear different ideas for how they can be used. They're attractive, in a modern sort of way. They feel good to hold and use. They're easy to set to sprinkle, pour a little, or pour a lot. I could definitely see having a spice rack of them... but I'm not sure where I'd put it. I'm going to give it some thought. They'd be super for storing beads, or jewelry parts for the crafter.

I'd swap out the pedestal sink for a floating vanity like the godmorgon from ikea. It'll add both storage and modern style (the drawer storage in these is GREAT.)

So many clever ideas, thank you!!! Maybe the best solution for us is having a stack of small towels and just toss them into a bin under the sink, or a rod in the cabinet under the sink to be able to use something a couple times. I do love the idea of a fresh one each time because I am a bit of a germ freak (thanks a lot for all those blacklight reports John Stossel!!!! grrrrrr) Our island is in the great room with no uppers near it, so some of these ideas don't work for us. SJhockeyfan .. interesting you have the telescoping bar and don't use it. Have you ever used it and does it work well, or do the towels remain a little moist as we assume they will. I may consider a stand on the counter at the cleanup sink in the back kitchen. Heck, Clergychick, maybe even a towel pig!!! Love that :) CEFreeman... Oh, maybe it should be a towel cat. So, to explain the house for the cats.. where do I begin. Well, I'm putting screens in all the windows so they can't get out (ok, that is a boring one), and then I'll have two 'kitty rooms' on either side of the long house that are for cat litter. There will be an exhaust fan, a hand sprayer of some sort, and a drain. I have a back kitchen designed (not just for the cats, mind you!) so I can have all the raw food on plates and not have to look at them from the great room. I have almost all the windows going down to the ground so they will have lots of places to look out (again, not just for them!). Drum roll.. the piece de resistance..... the house is around a courtyard where, for the first time since they were rescued as kittens, they'll be able to spend their days lounging around outside. The neighborhood mountain lions and bobcats won't be able to get in, and it's too small for a hawk or eagle to swoop in and pick them up. How was that for a list!!!! Unfortunately the house had been delayed for a few years and they won't have as many years to enjoy it as I had hoped. But their golden years will be great!!!

Palimpsest, as a matter of fact, I was indeed imagining some very small floating shelves a few inches deep, so very subtle, but just enough to draw attention to a different focus, just enough room for something like a little vase of dried flowers or tiny succulent. I'm definitely not talking utilitarian storage shelving. At the end of the day though, even as a huge fan of symmetry, I'm not terribly bothered by the window being off center in a powder room. It'd be fine if OP did nothing, just suggested the corner shelving because it'd be a very easy and inexpensive way to do SOMETHING about it.

If you have the right space for a decorative and functional cabinet to sit on the floor, out of the way, then you should be okay. Personally, I would always use an enclosed vanity where you have the space, and leave the decorative details to the lighting and artwork. You might also be able to use a recessed niche with a door that would be deep enough for toilet paper.

Depending on the layout, there are options for the size of the sink and metal accessories, though a supply cabinet seems like a good choices.

What size sink/vanity do you need. There are great looking vanities which will allow you storage and a similar look. This one seems to fit the vibe you're going for. Along the lines of the comment above mine, I was going to suggest that, if you are using paneled wainscotting, that you put recessed shelves behind one or two of the wainscotting panels across from the toilet and have hidden hinges and a pop-out-when-you-push-in system for opening the wainscotting to reveal hidden storage. It can be recessed into the wall cavity if you do not have room to bump out the wall in the next room. That will hold regular rolls of TP, bottles of cleaner, the brush for the toilet (hang it on a hook and put a plastic tray under to catch drips), and stacks of folded washcloths and hand towels. Be sure to have the other wainscotting panels milled just a bit thicker to match up to the extra depth that the hidden doors hang.
