Picking a neutral/calm color for little girl's room
Comments (4)We encountered the same thing when we did our daughter's "big girl" room last summer. She had just turned 3. I can't show you a picture at the moment, as her bed is covered in clothes to be packed today for our beach trip,(yay!), but I would suggest finding a comforter/quilt set that you love and that she can grow with, then picking the paint color from there. I've found it to be MUCH easier to finding bedding before I paint. Then I take the pillow sham to the paint store and find a backdrop color, if you will. My daughter's room is SW Enchant (a lilac/light purple color). Her bedding is a white quilt with pink/purple/yellow butterflies and flowers. I plan to keep her room as is for several years to come. She's happy with it as well (turning 4). We were able to add a princess table & chairs this past year to her room easily, b/c of the colors that were already in there. If her bedding was Dora, it wouldn't have worked so well, naturally! Unless we were going for a compete Disney Collection style of bedroom! LOL! So now, back to my packing, instead of (happily) procrastinating here! Good luck and let us know how what you choose! Below is a JCP quilt set that is an example. Here is a link that might be useful: bedding...See MoreHelp with Green Paint for Little Girls Room (pic)
Comments (24)The color that I'm thinking about is similar to the post above me, maybe a tad lighter. If you were up to doing a two tone, I wouldn't use pink, but two shades of green. I also like the idea of an accent wall, depending on the room. For the accent wall, I like the BM Georgian Green that was posted. From what I can see on my monitor, looks like a great accent color. I actually had the Depot color match the LA color in their Behr paint - since my husband prefers their paint... Sometimes you have to get creative and white out or cover up the name on back of the color sample since they have agreements with those other paint co's.... but if they don't know it, they'll do it - a HD employee gave me that tip!! Another tip, I usually paint a piece of white poster board. I do little squares, a 2x2 inch piece so that I can take it to the Depot for them to color match. Once they do that, you just take the lid back, they will match using the numbers. I then keep a database on my computer with the paint mix formula....See MorePaint color for a little girl's room that is not pink

Comments (29)Hello, The colors and the furniture are just fine, very girly. It does not really matter how you set up the furniture in the room. You will need the same floor space. However, to maximize your daughter's space on the floor for playing, I suggest using your walls and possibly even the ceilings. You could use small or bigger wall units or hanging frames for attaching items on, think of hanging bags on hooks or basket etc. to keep the floor space available. Regarding the style and the costs, these are small changes but you can spend as much or as little if you want. You could use designer pieces for the wall units or you could go for DIY- for instance using a wooden mattress frame on nice hooks on the ceiling above the bed or on the ceiling where you enter the room. Alternatively, a metal frame coated in white to have it disappear with the background. As an add on, you could use these little lights with feathers or so around the frame, to give it a dreamy feeling. By making use of other spaces than the floors, you add not only storage for toys, personal items, and creative things that your daughter makes, (I am sure she has loads of them during staying indoor time) but you also give more dimension to the room. Just make sure that colors and shapes are returning to keep it calm and create certain areas in the room with an assigned function (it does not matter if that is in the air or on the floor). You can think of: sleeping, reading, playing, studying, etc. I hope this helps you. Regards from Switzerland. Minou of Eden Spaces Interior Design and Styling...See Morekandrewspa
