It looks just fine for a little girl. The carpet will be comfortable for her to play on.

Personally, not having the nightstand by the head of the bed would bother me. You could try putting the headboard against the pink wall; my grandaughter's room is arranged like that, and she loves it. It does limit floor space for playing, so it depends on what you/your daughter prefer.

Can the bed be moved to the side of the room that the picture was taken. You could have the headboard against the pink wall and the nightstand in the corner. That would afford her all the space in front of the door to play in natural light

A floor plan would help with suggestions. Does she use the sliding door? Could part of it be blocked by the bed- perhaps the part that doesn’t open? If so, then the bed could be put on the opposite wall from where it is now, With the Length of the bed on the wall where the door is. . The end of the bed would cover part of the sliding door and hopefully there would be room for her bedside table beside her bed. And she would still have room to play.

It looks awkward to me to have the nightstand at the foot of the bed. if you want more play space can you move the nightstand into closet or out of the room, since its not serving main function where it is anyway.

What does the entire room look like? If the nightstand is there--then it's not needed so remove it, it's function is negated in your current set up. It appears there is a slider in her room? We need more information. A day bed design might suit your needs better..but again can't tell with that one picture...

Reading between the lines, I'm presuming there are budget constraints and possibly this room is shared with someone else.

There'a still a lot one can do to make a room feel more inviting and cosy, with play space, but we really need more details so that we can help.

Can you draw a floorplan with all the current furniture?

As someone mentioned, a beanbag and some art on the walls would help a lot.

Take a walk around your home and look for other interesting things you could use in the space - a hanging basket, a big scarf, a potted plant perhaps.

I’d say try it and see. I have 2 young kids and we are in a tiny condo, and we have to often go for function over style. But once I land on function I try and stylize. But the kids room - where the toys are - I have the twin beds toe-to toe so they have as much possible play space. I don’t have end tables and have a wall mounted sconce that is a plug in for bed time reading. I even have a dresser and the room is maybe 10x10 and 2 walls are windows, another has the closet and the other the door. i agree with the pp on the end table is out of place at the foot of the bed. If you still want it in the room maybe in a corner and create a reading nook. If this is just temporary don’t stress.

Why not flip the bd around so it’s looking out the slider, that will make the nightstand functional.. I would have the back of the nightstand to the back of the headboard

I've never been a fan of putting the side of a bed up against the wall. It just makes putting the bed back together in the morning or changing the bedding much more difficult. I'd just put the nightstand on the short wall next to the slider and the head of the bed on the wall next to the nightstand. If you could post a photo of the entire bedroom from either the open slider or the door to the room, it would give everyone a better sense of what you have.

Turn the bed and line it up with the patio door, about 18 “ from the door. Then you can put the nightstand in either side. And only lose a small amount of floor space.

Ask your daughter if the arrangement makes her happy. It is just temporary so don't sweat it. For me personally having my head against the slider would freak me out - that and the beside table not being within easy reach. Good luck.

For a young child in her first big-kid bed, I like the bed with one side against the wall. I even use a temporary bed rail on the exposed side until she is used to the new bed. When the child gets a bit older, I remove the bed rail. If you put smooth plastic tips on the feet of the bed, it’s easy enough to swivel the bed away from the wall for changing sheets and blankets. The night stand and lamp are useless at the foot of the bed. I would put it at the head of the bed, between the bed and the slider. I would put a secondary lock high up on the slider door just for security, and be sure there are window coverings for privacy and light control (not visible in photo, there may be window coverings).

I agree with Felix lady, the sliding door is my biggest concern for safety and privacy reasons. A second lock and piece of would trim as a stopper are essential. Then whatever window coverings you have. Then you have more freedom to move the bed and nightstand if you still want to. Is there a closet in the room? For my son, I took down the closet stairs and doors and made a sort of cubby I set the bed in. Painted it the same as the accent wall. Hung curtains on either side so it’s sort of like a little tent. It gave him more space to play and no closet monsters to fear. I put the closet doors in the garage for when he’s older

It's really bright light coming in the sliding glass door-- the light & outside sounds may keep your daughter from sleeping well. Also the cold draft from an aluminum framed door. Why not help her grow up with good sleep habits by adding a room-darkening curtain or shade, and placing her bed against or close to the wall where the photographer is standing? Play space can be in front of the window in daytime.

Lot's of questions: How old is your daughter? What are the dimensions of the room? A layout would provide a lot of good ideas. Does she like to read in bed? Is the bed and nightable the only furniture in her room? Where does she put her clothes and does homework?. What about personal items: toys, books, dolls, etc, etc? Where are they stored? I assume a closet stores her clothing. It should have shelves and bars that she can easily reach so she takes care of her own clothes.

Sorry, I find the room uninviting and unbalanced. I like the pink shade on the walls and assumes she does too. The bed is adorable. I'd move it in the center of the wall away from the patio and put cushions along the wall, so it looks like a day bed, or move the bed so the night table and lamp are near the headboard. Other options are: a wall light, or standing light, that she can reach easily always near the headboard. I don't care for the bed placement near the patio. If for some reason you want it there, have curtains or a pretty shade so it can be pulled down in the evening. Love the suggestion of a beanbag chair - fun and inexpensive. A simple bookshelf and a small desk & chair should in a your plan. I've designed kid's rooms and often have their name(s), when the rooms is shared, painted or pasted w. cut-outs on a wall - often over the bed. Kids love that. I bet your daughter would too.

The colors and the furniture are just fine, very girly. It does not really matter how you set up the furniture in the room. You will need the same floor space.

However, to maximize your daughter's space on the floor for playing, I suggest using your walls and possibly even the ceilings.

You could use small or bigger wall units or hanging frames for attaching items on, think of hanging bags on hooks or basket etc. to keep the floor space available.

Regarding the style and the costs, these are small changes but you can spend as much or as little if you want.

You could use designer pieces for the wall units or you could go for DIY- for instance using a wooden mattress frame on nice hooks on the ceiling above the bed or on the ceiling where you enter the room. Alternatively, a metal frame coated in white to have it disappear with the background. As an add on, you could use these little lights with feathers or so around the frame, to give it a dreamy feeling.

By making use of other spaces than the floors, you add not only storage for toys, personal items, and creative things that your daughter makes, (I am sure she has loads of them during staying indoor time) but you also give more dimension to the room. Just make sure that colors and shapes are returning to keep it calm and create certain areas in the room with an assigned function (it does not matter if that is in the air or on the floor). You can think of: sleeping, reading, playing, studying, etc.

Turn the nightstand so that the back of the stand is next to the footboard. It will look like a chest as the end of the bed. If you don’t really need the lamp for light, store it somewhere, but if you use it, move it to the wall side. And use all that wall space for something. You could string a line from wall to wall and clip her drawings on it, even if she’s just learning to do crayon scribbles.

I would store that nightstand in her closet, if possible. Little kid's things only hang down halfway and there is usually some space below. But if not, turn the nightstand to back against the foot of her bed.

I agree with many of these suggestions, but more info about the child, room, size etc, would be helpful. If the bed needs to stay where it is, the easiest thing to do would be to add a plug-in sconce on the wall near the headboard, and to place a small, easily moved stool beside the bed for a book etc. (A bed with a lower headboard could also help....that way you could just flip the bed 180 degrees and the little nightstand will be useful; with the higher headboard the girl wouldn’t be able to access it.) And, yes, absolutely, I would add curtains along the sliding doors....it adds coziness, darkness and a feeling of security at night. (I am assuming there is no other room, which is why she HAS to be in a room with an outside door....not ideal, IMO.) After all that is figured out just add some bookshelves and art on the walls, and you’ll have a cute room.

A corner doesn't define a room. Looks a little like move-in day with the furniture plopped in the corner---there are so many good ideas here already. Squeezing the bed into that corner with the nightstand at the bottom doesn't do justice to the functionality or cute furniture. Spread out and

coordinate---pictures, curtains, a chair, toy box, li'l table for art or books, bookshelf, etc. and encourage her to pick some colors and something she's fond of. Maybe a wall theme with a tree or doll or flower, garden motif or with wall size decals to create a focal point. Keeping it simple and childlike, you might like to paint a simple shape of any of the above on the wall. This is a

great time for DIY keeping costs down, being more homebound, and needing an outlet. A shared room brings more challenges to keep individuality, color harmony without cluttering. Have fun with this so your child remembers the teamwork.

Centre bed on wall or create a Day bed, mattress on bed-frame only, no headboard or foot board centered on t all. Place pillows at end and along the wall different shapes and sizes. Sconce lighting on the wall at each end. I would store the bed side table. Shelving on the wall around the room for trinkets or books. Drapes over the patio doors hang at ceiling level. Drape canopy over bed to help Centre and create focal point on the wall. See suggestion below...
