Comments (100)Spring Meadow Nursery doesn’t note the fragrance, only the taste (light pear). I wish they would as I’m sure others may want to grow for more than eating. https://springmeadownursery.com/plantfinder/flavorette-peard-rosa-63450 That’s incredible that both Reminiscent Pink and Rise Up Lilac Days have been so vigorous for you. Rise Up Lilac Days put on some great growth for me this year but then deer reduced it significantly at one point. Hopefully the fragrance of Reminiscent Pink improves for both of us. I think if ”scent” is included in the name, it had better deliver fragrance. I’m glad Rise Up Lilac Days has a wonderful fragrance at least....See MoreWyoming rose survival spring 2022
Comments (51)Joey: Gorgeous roses !! I love your Moonlight in Paris and your Gertrude has perfect form and such nice deep colors. Some pics. taken this late June at above 90 heat: James Galway spring flush lasts forever (at least 1 month of blooming). I still have about 6 blooms on Zeph Drouhin as of today 6/29/22. I sniffed Zeph. Drouhin this morning and it was wonderful old rose. Below is James Galway: Below Dee-lish gets ruffles in high heat. Scent is very strong in hot weather, rasberry/strawberry/guave and rose: Poseidon loves the heat, exploded in blooms. It blooms better this year due to winter-kill. Normal height after zone 5a winter is 3 feet, but this year it's down to 1.5 feet. Below Summer Sun from RU is now having 6 buds on 6/29/22. Twilight Zone is looking very deep purple today but I didn't take a pic. of it. Sonia Rykiel is having 6 blooms which I cut for the vase....See MoreYour MAY 2022 highlights
Comments (64)"What is the tree that ‘Sum & Substance is planted under? Could it be a Cercis ‘Forest Pansy’? Such unusual heart shaped leaves. And those hostas really are huge. You have such a nice large property. Looks like a LOT to take care of, I don’t know how you gardeners with large properties do it!" Yes, a Forest Pansy. I "do it" (this year anyway) by taking my photos from afar so you can't see the weeding I'm behind on. It's all I really do from April through October, am retired now. My May standouts this year have been all foliage related. I put in several Spirea 'Candlelight' on the back side of my perennial bed that you don't always see. Well the new growth was astoundingly gorgeous butter yellow that contrasted so nicely with the creeping phlox blooming around it. The 'Little Honey' oakleaf hydrangea is bright yellow, the new growth on the conifers is SO gorgeous, the new Acer leaves, my variegated Kousa dogwoods, the gold Hakone, the 'Sun King' aralia. Even the very plain green growth on everything is so new and lush and verdant- it all just screams fresh new start in May. I love my blooms, I do- my group of 'Blueberry Bliss' Irises is a showstopper in May. But the leaves, the foliage- it's all so perfect this time of year that I really try to appreciate it before the bugs and summer heat tire it all out. I'm getting up there and trying to take in every moment I have outdoors and staring at foliage has to be one of the favorite things I do. We have undeveloped property beyond the fencing and we sit back there just taking it in- I can lose hours staring at the woods. I think the Japanese even call it forest bathing, so it's not wasted time to me, it's why I enjoy living so much....See More2022-2024 MY FAVORITE OLD GARDEN ROSES

That’s so exciting that you have a Mme Isaac Pereire! I draw designs of whete ai wish to plant my rosrs so I can look at the design and know which rose is planted thete when I first plant. I keep plastic labels on them, too, if they have them. Eventually I memorize them. Your La Reine doubds very promusibg with 5 blooms! She has really beautiful blooms! I live La Reine & Isaac Pereire! Berry, A 4ft La Reine is wonderful! I am really thinking Zi want to move mine out of it’s pot! Next spring! My La Reine had about 15 blooms first flush. However a ”larger La Reine” will probably have twice as many blooms!...See Moremustbnuts zone 9 sunset 9
