How do you s'mores?

S'mores used to be a girl scout thing. Part of the cookout. Toast a Kraft marshmallow or two well and melty without charring, sandwich with half a Hershey bar between two halves of an old style Honey Maid graham cracker, wrap in foil (with your mark to know which is yours) and put in the coals to get all melty and gooey. All the goo permeated the graham crackers so they were a bit soft but not leaking--oozy and messy when bit, though. They weren't that good, and you had to hold them in the foil so they didn't make a dreadful mess, but they were hot, and it was chilly by the time we ate them. We give our kids better treats nowadays. Actually, even when I was ten, I got my handbook signed off for making real cookies from scratch.

Some sappy movie on TV barely toasted the marshmallow, didn't heat the "sandwich" and the poor actress had to crunch the outcome. Was it just bad movie making? Do you make crunchy s'mores? Do you make them differently from classic scouts? Do you love them? Hate them? Don't care much at all? Having looked around, I think I've missed a lot about s'mores culture...
