New thing to plant for arrangements with roses...hardy mums or other?

All I have ever seen here locally (big box or nursery) are boring yellow, brown, etc mums, but I just found several places that sell florist style big mums bred by U of Nebraska. Bluestone perennials, Grow Joy and Halden Garden has a number of them. They say they overwinter to zone 3-9. I think they would look amazing with roses. Has anyone ever tried to grow these? Do you have other flowers that are better?
